Same here bro, goose bumps for sure. Even on TV. Im always just waiting for something to go wrong. That actually happened to me once. I was flying from LAX to Hawaii to meet our ship. The engines came up to power on the run way. It didnt sound right and then you could here it spool down. Nobody believed me when I said "we arent going anywhere for a long time". 36 hours later we landed. Myself and another guy missed ships movement by 12 hours because of it. Pre cell phone era of course.

Fuuuck missing movement. Never let that happen to me after I saw a BM2 get scuffed up beyond scuffed up.

My dumbass marine brain thought it was just the big fans on the LCAC lol

I loved sitting in the cab of the 7 ton towing my gun and pulling up to shore with other ones offloading, one of the coolest amphib landings I did.

It was out of our control. The airline had to provide a hotel for everyone. It took 24 hours to get another plane. We werent recieved well when we showed up on base but things were quickly sorted out and I was sent back to my hole in main 1.

I'm sure I would bro. I really enjoyed my time as a turbine mechanic. It's nice to not have to use tools anymore, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it!

I guess I forgot but you were Army?

Literally lol. There are alot of misconceptions with how they work. It takes alot to generate 4,000,000 CFM of air straight down to lift the craft and the 100 ton plus payload.

I loved sitting in our cabs with senior staff NCO's and eat fish in front of them while they puked lol.

I was on a couple rough rides during our work up, didn't think it was that bad tbh
