do you remember that 147 republican congress people objected to the certification of president biden. thats crazy trown

if Pence hadn't approved the list, we would not have had a president. there would have been chaos

Trump attempted an illegal coupe. im genuinely confused how anyone supports him still. he is as anti-american as it gets

Okay. first off, it's "coup" not coupe. A coupe is a small car. Ffs.

The overarching point that I'm making is Trump didn't attempt a coup. He's just a moron. If Trump was as dedicated to not giving up his presidency as people are suggesting he had a million avenues to install himself as dictator before losing an election and then making claims that the VP has powers he doesn't actually have. This investigation is about making it so Trump can't run for president again. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well yeah...... turns out he's just gonna shill for and make excuses for anti-democracy right-wing extremists and their enablers, and pretend that absolutely nothing they're doing is actually genuinely fucking dangerous.

What a surprise, right?

Trump is a moron, that does not mean that he and his supporters and enablers cannot pose a real and serious danger to American democracy.

And you don't know what Trump and the people around him actually did or didn't attempt, because you're not interested in any of them being investigated or exposed to accountability for any of it.

Again. Not how it works.
How the process is written down really doesn't matter if he has the military on his side.
Not sure if there was a real possibility that he would have had it, but if you throw enough smokescreens and tell em half believable shit amidst a lot of chaos, it might have worked. That kinda sounds like his mo anyway.

Why do you think he tried everything he did on that day? Just for shit n giggles?

If he was as bent on not leaving office as we're being lead to believe, the military would have been far and away the easiest route to take.

Create hype for his next presidential run and most importantly, fund raising.

Ye but you still want it to have a somewhat legitimate coating. The US ain't Myanmar, yet.

Perhaps, but I'm not sold on it that this was the only reasoning behind it as of yet.

Because you've lead yourself to the worst possible outcome rather than the most likely one. Trump is a grifter through an ld through. Always has been, always will be.

Regarding the legitimate coating, I understand what you're getting at, but again, "I'm not leaving this office." Is a zero sum game. Once you're out, you're out.

Well I'm on the fence with outcomes and prolly I will never know for sure, not that it matters that much for me.

Just the argument that it couldn't have been an attempt to coup because of lack of a legit process doesn't ring that true to me.
I wonder if anyone knows any legit processes to coup, lol.

That's the point I'm making. The coup they're attempting to sell is "They were going to murder Mike Pence so he couldn't certify the results." Murdering Mike Pence doesn't result in the results not being certified. There would need to be a full overthrow of the government.

Granted I'm still waiting for the explanation of how a sitting president can perform a coup of himself to install himself. But why let details get in the way, right?

Oh well I don't think he actually planned to have Pence killed. Not sure anybody does.

Youd think tho if for whatever reasons he had stayed in office that day, he would have later said "well no I actually lost and this was just a publicity stunt"?

Sorry, but I don't follow. Are you asking if he would have admitted defeat after performing a coup?

It's really hard for me to look at it from that perspective because I don't envision a galaxy in which it's even possible. He's too much of a chicken shit to run the risk of ending up dead.

He shredded documents related to his Presidency.

Way more than any other. Way, way more.

Guy was hiding his shenanigans as much as he could, and did it with impunity. Giving him power was an incredible mistake, and an embarrassment.
