I like this match up, should be a good fight, and let's be honest. No way Bisping is ever going to get a title fight. And in this fight, he is serving his exact purpose, being a gatekeeper and giving the up and comers a good scalp and to get more hype.
UFC could easily give Bisping a lower ranked veteran (Mousasi, Kennedy, Uriah) to destroy him, so I think it would be wise to accept this fight.

he's also called Nick Diaz out a couple of times, which could be a fun one...

There's no way Bisping is happy with this fight. He's never had a shot at the title. At this point, I'm all for giving it to him. Rockhold will maul him again and Weidman would too, but at least he can retire knowing he got the shot. It'd be a shame if Whittaker beats the breaks off dat ass and basically guarantees he'll never get one.
Exactly, pointless title shot. Pretty simple math, if there is even a question that you can't beat someone theoretically below you, how do you think you deserve a title shot.......answer, you don't.

Although Bisping has recently beaten Silva, he didn't fight A-Game Silva - if he had he would have been schooled. The UFC realise that by winning that fight in the manner in which it was fought, Bisping simply did not force the prospect of a title shot. This is unfortunate, but it is reality.

A fight with Whittaker would effectively be his final opportunity to stamp his authority, but Whittaker is a very risky option and Bisping knows it. He wants a title shot now purely because he knows that 2 or 3 fights down the line he'll likely be completely out of the picture. He's been around for years and still hasn't put himself in the big time. It is abundantly clear that he will not get any closer to a title shot unless he fights Whittaker and beats him convincingly.

People have different opinions on whether or not he deserves a shot, but what is clear is that he just has not convinced the powers that be.

Point taken, although a B-Game Silva would still easily beat an A-Game Bisping.

During their fight A-Game Bisping met D-Game Silva.

Very selfish of you Joe, what about Wittakers needs? You have little faith that the Count can collect an easy check unharmed and see if that title shot comes I'm thinking. Guys like Hendo and Wand gave Mike the opportunity to get a win over a big name but he came up short. It's time he returns the favour here, he might even win.

They better make it happen in London for him to win... and he needs to make sure he ONLY gets KOd right at the bell.... then he'll be all set to win another decision.

As we have seen many other times, he'll get the decision as long as it's in England......
