Korea will be fine, I don't think this is even a big deal in their culture. It's much different than the US, we'd be looking for someone to shoot by now.

And, not for nothin, wtf is that old man doing in Angola? He was just in the jungle, flew home to Delaware from turkey and pardons, and now Angola?
Did Dr Jill want one last free vacation on the taxpayers dime? Is Hunter with him or locked in a hotel partying his balls off?

So many questions

Probably trying to get some country stickers for his retirement RV

"Even though I've been involved with the African American caucus for years I've never made it to Angola."

Old racist doesn't even realize these are African Africans.

He's just enjoying the last few moments of his office. Also probably trying to avoid the press after pardoning his retarded son.

You make some thoughtful points, but...

" Ultimately, it's our collective retardation that leads us to impulsively believe that one approach is better than the other and then kill one another to prove it."

You think it's retarded to see a stark difference between North Korea and South Korea and to think one might be superior to the other?
No, it's quite obvious that North Korea is a shit hole. The point is that the neither system is superior if implemented without some level of balance between the two. If unchecked, both road leads to totalitarianism.

The zealotry of the tribes behind each system is retarded.

Neither side of the argument believes they're doing the wrong thing, which is exactly why proximity is irrelevant.

The term 'useful idiots' exists for a reason, and there is a never ending supply of them on both sides.

Parliament voted 190-0 to lift the Martial Law, this is gonna get interesting

From that article:

"Under South Korea’s constitution, the president can declare martial law during “wartime, war-like situations or other comparable national emergency states” that require the use of military force to maintain peace and order. It was questionable whether South Korea is currently in such a state."

Sounds like the president threw a hissy fit over not getting his way, there's nothing close to a war going on right now. Even his own party unanimously voted against martial law.

I have a feeling he won't be president for long.

There was never a peace declared or treaty signed. They actually are still at war with each other.
Technically you're correct of course, but that shouldn't be carte blanche to declare martial law unless there's the imminent threat of open conflict.

From the outside looking in, it seems like something of a desperate power move, and one that will likely result in his impeachment.

Oh, I agree. Just keeping us in the realm of known facts since there are so few available. We still need to know the story... No idea if Yoon went rogue or if he honestly believes his govt is being undermined/attacked from within. Or both, if he's nuts.
I know nothing about him other than media calling him "South Koreas Trump"

Make South Korea Best Korea!

This is the type of weird thing that later they'll point to as the event that starts the chain reaction of the next world war.
