I watched the challenger explosion live on TV and then saw the discovery launch 2 years later in Florida. Was sad when it got scrapped.

I was so fucking excited about the very idea of the shuttle. I remember the cover of popular science that had an article about it coming.

I also remember believing skylab was going to crash into my house.

Conspiracy theories abound that it wasn't really scrapped. Or more specifically that there was a parallel "deep gov" program that continued long after the front facing program was shuttered.
