Oscar-winning actor George Clooney took aim at former White House strategist Stephen Bannon's works as a screenwriter at a film festival this week, calling Bannon a "failed f------ screenwriter."
"Steve Bannon is a failed f------ screenwriter, and if you've ever read [his] screenplay, it's unbelievable," Clooney told reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival,
Vulture reported.
Before becoming an executive at Breitbart News, Bannon worked on 19 films, some as a producer and others as a writer and director. The films include several independent documentaries on the rise of conservative groups like the Tea Party movement.
Clooney has lambasted Bannon for his "Shakespearean rap musical about the L.A. riots," referring to his late-90s
screenplay "The Thing I Am," which superimposed Los Angeles gang rivalries over Shakespeare's Coriolanus.
The Hollywood actor is a vocal critic of President Trump and has taken to bashing several White House figures since Trump took office. He has called both Bannon and Trump "Hollywood elites" in response to Trump's anti-elitist platform.
“Now, if he’d somehow managed miraculously to get that thing produced, he’d still be in Hollywood, still making movies and licking my ass to get me to do one of his stupid-ass screenplays," Clooney said.
“I like picking fights. I like that Breitbart News wants to have my head,” Clooney told reporters. “I’d be ashamed 10 years from now if those weaselly little putzes, whose voices are getting a lot higher every week as this presidency starts to look worse and worse, weren’t still [after me].”
