A strong jobs report showed wage growth is finally starting to pick up. That's great news for workers, but it reinforced investors' concern about inflation and the bond market.
"It's all about rates. Asset prices and the economy have become addicted to low rates," said Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer at the Bleakley Financial Group. "Sentiment got euphoric. There is more froth that needs to be taken off."
The sell-off knocked the Dow well below 26,000. Both the Dow and S&P 500 suffered their biggest weekly drops since early 2016 -- roughly 4% each.
Political turmoil is adding to the uncertainty. Market analysts pointed to the clash between the Trump administration and the FBI as another concern.
"There looks like a breakdown of the institutions in our country," said Ian Winer, head of equities at Wedbush Securities. "No matter what side you're on, that's not good."
While the point decline on the Dow was large, it paled in comparison with the scary days of the financial crisis. Friday's decline was 2.5%. The Dow plummeted nearly 8% on a single day in October 2008.

LMAO. People - including myself - have been calling for a correction for a couple years. It's bound to happen at some point. What happened the last 2 days isn't a "crash". It's just down.
It could drop another $1000 and it would still be higher than it was a few months ago.

Too early to tell, but so far I like what he's doing. The tax cuts are huge and a much needed change. The ACA was a fucking disaster. Industrial regulation had gone way too far. Our trade deals were a joke. And no matter how uncomfortable the conversation might be, the borders need to be fixed. It's not about discrimination, it's about bringing people in so they can be successful in our country.
I didn't vote for the guy and I don't care for his lack of tact, but so far I have no issue with the actual policies he's put in place. It's only been 1 year. It's going to take longer than that to fix 8 years of ineptitude.

you know that corp tax that he cut for bizni's that was gonna help us, well I was watching meet the press and they where in a room with over a 150 ceo's and they asked those CEO's how many of them would reinvest back to their employees with the extra saving, literally only 5 out of 150 plus said they would.
So 97% or more are saying even with the tax corp cut for biznies that they wont give anything back to their employees.

The media shits on everything Trump does. The effects - good or bad - of the tax cuts will take time play out. I'm not a member of the 1%, but I'm also not one who shits on their success. For the most part, healthy businesses are good for the people of this country.
