I actually don't mind they're mixing it up. The win was clear and Holly wasn't a long running champ. I find it refreshing to see someone else in the mix other than Rousey, or Holly. I am sure if Rousy was available, we would've seen yet another rematch.
I kind of want to see the belt change hands several times. I hope Nunes takes it next. It will make things much more interesting.

Sure it was close to 4-0. Tate got lucky and scored the take down, Other than that she was losing that fight on all 3 score cards and the millions watching around the world.
She didn't get lucky at all. Tate stays just outside of Holly's range and tries baiting her into an exchange which was the opposite of Rondas plan of rushing in. Holly bites, commits to the straight which Tate times well with a well timed duck under, ties her up around the waist and gets a planned out TD that lets her control the round early on. That's nothing to do with luck and is all about making adjustments as the fight progressed and more than likely came with the help of her corner doing a great job.

I almost never agree when someone says that a fighter got lucky with something.

it's not luck, when there is clear evidence in holes in Holm when she attacks. It was proven in the Meisha fight and it was proven in the Pennington fight. If Meisha fought a little more with calculated aggression she probably finishes Holm earlier or takes more rounds.

As Meisha coach Robert Follis said they believe they could do better in a rematch and I tend to agree, Cause Holm always has to fight cautiously and avoid getting taken down.

Well Pennington showed the blueprint how to give Holly a difficult fight( I scored it for Pennington). If watched in slow mo Holm has some weaknesses when she leads, except Pennington doesn't have the wrestling Meisha has.

I'm pretty sure Meishas coaches watched that fight and drew a portion of their gameplan from there. Nunes would present a tough match up for Holm(for 2 rounds)and Germain DeRandamie matches up even worst in terms of pure striking, I would not favor Holm at all in that fight.

Lucky because as Holm said she stated cruising. Had she not thought she had the fight wrapped up she wouldnt had let her guard down.

But what we are discussing is rematches, Conor got tapped out in a rather easy fashion, he pretty much did nothing to hurt Diaz yet he gets a rematch and you have a champion, no Conor isnt a champion at 170 so I wont refer to him as a champ, Holm was champ got caught and lost. Weidman got beat down and rematches. Rousey got destroyed and instant rematches. Silva got beat and rematches. Aldo champ for years gets caught no rematch. So where is the line drawn, is it if you dont kiss dana's ass you dont rematch?

How is that luck? Holly made the decision to attack, Tate made the decision to counter and was successful and that started the momentum swing. If Holly slipped on a banana peel or something happened that she had no control over then I might be more willing to agree.

Tate got her down and almost choked her out in the second round as well. Did she coast the whole fight?

I have to agree it was not luck, Tate timed that take down and capitalize on it. Holly does deserve a rematch though. I feel the only reason she didn't get one is not because of her. Dana has already come out to say he hates her manager. I wouldn't put it pass Dana that that's the reason she didn't get it. Now the manager as no leverage as she isn't champ or has a chance to become one again.

They're not mixing it up, they're rewarding and trying to move forward to the fighters they want having belts or getting what they want, they know it's not going to work for all the cases but their view on it, is they are going to try to load the "star gun" with as many bullets as possible, rankings and sport be damned because they have no idea how to harness the actual sport into an attraction and have given up.

Since Miesha has the belt, they think Ronda will get a better chance at taking it back and want to take it back faster this way.

If this had been Holly vs Ronda 2 and ended that way, the third fight is immediate. They're only rewarding their favorites in direct or indirect ways.

Under the logic they gave Conor now, they would have given GSP the Serra rematch immediately, both stoppages, both huge stars in at least a country and location to use, but they didn't they did TUF with Hughes and GSP fought a Contender. They used to try to both legitimate rankings and aiming for peak events, but since Ronda they have just stopped entirely caring about any rankings legitimacy when there's a star in that division.

yep pretty much, Holm was up on score cards so it was a mistake to go onto cruise mode which Holm even said is what she did. Simple mistake on her part with Tate getting lucky.
