ahhh...love it. those cypress trees are something, aren't they?

really peaceful little float . :)

i had to laugh at your bug post. i've been camping once. got destroyed by bugs. never doing that again. it's real nice to be one with nature..but then i pack it in and go home/hotel
The cypress were my favorite part of that trip. They bared evidence of various water levels and fish, snakes, turtles, birds and squirrels all made room for each other.

You guys should try it again. This time of year is perfect where you are, bugs shouldn't be too bad.

When I was eleven my cousin and I decided we wanted to stay at a remote lake way out in the woods. We had a tent and gear. The lake was beautiful and provided the best trout fishing in the area. However it was off the highway down a dirt path 5 miles in. There's nothing out there but trees and animals.

We had great success snagging fish for supper. The evening was grand. We had a good fire going and bonded over marsh mellows for hours.

In the middle of the night I was awakened by foot steps right outside our tent. I thought oh no it's a fucking bear!! I had my Rambo knife ready if the animal were to try get in. I woke my cousin and we were scared shitless. I started to hear more footsteps around our camp site. A pack of animals were slowly trudging all over the landing. I was thinking wtf?

I dared open the zipper a little ways. There were about 5 racoons out there. The decided to look through our shit. They were tipping shit over and eating our chips. The cooler was invaded and they were just tossing our stuff around like pans, bags of items, fishing rods. They sit upright on their asses and use their paws like hands. It was strange they just said fuck it, this is our shit now..the whole time we just watched like little bitches and didn't sleep anymore. Them mother fuckers.

I went back when I was 13 and brought a .22 in hopes they would try that shit again. Nothing popped off. They had probably moved on. I still want my revenge to this day.

I have a 70 litre columbia rucksack that I can't find for sale.. But something like this, Northface are decent Columbia either.. It's worth spending a few quid because the higher end bags really do distribute the weight better..

My pack came in the mail today. I went with that North Face 65 liter. Gotta spend some time learning to pack it now. This next trip I'm going to try to bring only what I can carry, besides beer of course.

Thanks bro!

Outstanding choice, that'll be perfect, spend a good bit of time fiddling with the fitting so it sits right.

On of these should do for beer.

I missed this reply. That's a nice looking pack and we have the same sleeping mat

I like the tent, I am looking at getting a new one. I assume it has a rain fly, or do you use a tarp? Tyvek ground cover I see?

Just got back from another state park. Had my wife with me this time and we spent 2 days lounging and hiking.

All of Florida pretty much looks the same so you've seen it already, but I'll share a couple of pics from the hike.

It was overcast and rained off and on.

Florida says hello check it @Check it

Chief @Chief how did the wife like it?
She really enjoyed herself. She went through a little Facebook withdrawal, and got scared by a few noises at night, but it was a great experience for her.

No gators, but she did get to see deer and a turkey and lots of birds.

Got her a huge tent and queen size air mattress, so she was comfortable and we'll fed. Warm and dry!
