although that fat country guy was rockin a good one too. just not trimmed as well. this is not to imply any meterosexual leanings of the irish one.
Two failed PED tests disqualifies him by any rational, objective MMA fan.Wrong, Jones is the closest thing to the #1 GOAT ever to me
Fedor is not even a top 20 heavyweightTake out Conor and put in Fedor at that spot and you have something accurate
Conor does not even get into my top 40 alltime in terms of fighting.
PPV he is the number 1 ever, but fighter, long way to go to even break the top 20 lol
The jury is still out...Two failed PED tests disqualifies him by any rational, objective MMA fan.
I agree with what you're saying but I was speaking from my criteria of why I choose one fighter over the other.I'm not going to try and argue that GSP was a risk taker but that's how he got 11 title fights and won 9 in a row. I can fully appreciate the big risk takers like Alvarez, they bring tons of excitement which is always great. But I can also appreciate a guy like GSP who could dominate so many consistently. You say "if he fought like that his entire career, he wouldn't have such a perfect anything" as if his acheivements are a bad thing, or his approach to deliver the most damage while taking the least is a bad thing. One of his biggest criticisms is being boring yet he proved to be a huge draw, people wanted to watch him fight.
Also that wasn't the only time he fought like that. His earlier fights were nothing short of awesome, IMO of course. Karo, Heiron, the Hughes trilogy, Miller, Trigg, Sherk... Those were great fiights to watch. I thought it was unanimously agreed that his style became much less risky after Serra knocked him out. Even some later fights like Condit and Fitch were exciting.
There used to be rumours that 80-90% of UFC fighters were using PEDs as well, started in most cases by other UFC fighters. Rogan uses that 'everyone in Pride juiced' argument to take Fedor out of any GOAT discussions, but still refers to Jon Jones and Anderson Silva as GOATS, both of whom have popped multiple times for PEDs, with both claiming erectile dysfunction to escape longer suspensions. Whenever you start to think the UFC was somehow cleaner than any other organization prior to USADA, just remember that Brock Lesnar fought Ubereem and neither fighter popped for a banned substance that night. This is exactly what I didn't want to get into. Rumours have been afoot forever about everyone within Pride juicing. I honestly don't know enough about it back then.
Don't say I was "argumentative". There wasn't one.
Ubereem didn't pass a test in the lead up to that fight, and failed the next test he took.just remember that Brock Lesnar fought Ubereem and neither fighter popped for a banned substance.
You responded before I edited my post. Also, Ubereem was only one half of that main event.Ubereem didn't pass a test in the lead up to that fight, and failed the next test he took.
I know he was. Brock passed his IQ test. You responded before I edited my post. Also, Ubereem was only one half of that main event.
FYI earlier in thread you claimed Fedor was a "skilled technician"I just don't think Fedor fought the level of competition necessary or was technical enough to be considered for the #1 spot.
He eventually popped, like Overeem.I know he was. Brock passed his IQ test.
Brock popped to USADA.He eventually popped, like Overeem.
He popped twice.Brock popped to USADA.
I didn't think that was any kind of secret to anyone. Unless you're trying to create an equivalency between USADA tests and the older "Hey, you want to come in next week and piss in a cup for us?" tests. He popped twice.
"Lesnar failed an out-of-competition test conducted by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the UFC’s anti-doping partner, in connection with UFC 200, which took place July 9 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He also failed a fight-night test. Lesnar and Jones tested positive for the estrogen blocker clomiphene, and Jones also tested positive for another estrogen blocker, letrozole."
