Seems to have been a pattern established well before Trump took office. If anything, it looks like the gains actually slowed down the last few years.
Remember when Trump ran in 2016 and said the economy's pace was a bubble because there was never a proper correction after the 08 collapse?

He could do with managing the deficit and national debt a little better

Hopefully the tariffs and trade deals will help curb that in the long run.

What new policies has he instituted that ballooned spending? Honest question as I have no idea.

It's not what he's done, it's what he hasn't. When the Global Economic Crisis hit, most economies took a dive. Debt skyrocketed. Over the next 10 years, they reduced their deficits and got their debt to level off. Except the US, which has continued to increase debt at the same rate since the GEC recovery.

Maybe he's still unwinding Obama's bullshit?

Thanks Obama.

It was GWB that brought in the bullshit. Obama wasn't great either but you can clearly see the deficit was reducing like every other country and it increased under Trump.

It didn't quite work that way. A lot of what happened with the GWB was because of the Clinton administration and their move in the direction of home ownership being an American right. Very rarely can you look at something an administration does and treat it as a standalone decision. The "New Deal" and the Bank bailout/stimulus act were very much those things, but outside of that it's mostly people just dealing with the mess the person before them created.

In a lot of cases debt/deficit is misleading because a group is spending a previous administrations rainy day savings.

I agree, which is what happened with Obama. Bush brought in the deregulation that led to the sun prime mortgage crash, Obama had to clean up the mess. He was doing ok, nothing special, in line with other countries but then Trump got in and suddenly the deficit took a U turn when no one else's did.

Sub prime mortgage was a result of Clinton's decree. If the president talks about it being a right to own a home, it forces regulations to change in order to meet that claim. That being said, Obama didn't need to provide a one way lump sum payment the way he did. Regarding the U-turn, that isn't really accurate. It's a continuation of what he took over, the problem is eventually the market will correct. The longer you put off the ocrrection, the more drastic the correction will be. Sadly, in this global economy none of us are going to escape the stupidity.

I agree Clinton was part of it but GWB had 8 years and his presidency ended with the GEC.

Regarding the U-Turn in the deficit, it didn't happen with other economies. They levelled out their debt; it has continued to rise under Trump.

As I said earlier, that's more a product of momentum than it is a single large action.

I understand, I'm just pointing out that it isn't a U-turn if you're going in the same direction. It's the other countries who U-turned, even that is a bit of an exageration if memory serves. It's more like a slowing down than a cessation.

They keep getting busted for their bullshit, but they keep doing the same shit over and over.

Lies! Lies! Lies! was a solid GnR album, but it's a pretty bad policy for a media department.
And everytime they lie it's always in one direction...

Biased media isn't anything new from either side of the aisle, but the outright lies being reported as fact certainly feels like the media has stepped up their game with Trump.

Agreed. The problem is the media is biased in one way 10-1. For as long as I can remember the right had talk radio, a few 2nd-tier newspapers and the #1 evil Fox News. The left has everything else and have the audacity to complain about Fox News. It's a scream...
