From reading that article, it seems that she was sent to juvie for assault and theft.
I don't disagree with this.
But what if the mother doesn't want to be in jail any longer, they should just let her out right?

No one knows, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say yes.
If she promises she is sorry she can go home.
What if she says it, but clearly doesn't mean it?
I will reduce her time remaining by half, but she'll be restricted to her cell for the remainder of the sentence.
