Here's another one. I don't care how they get out to these things, or what the do inside of them. Fuuuuuck being anywhere around them.

Turned down an operator position on an offshore rig several years ago. Wife couldn't handle the 28/28 rotation. Those platforms have small combustion turbines to power them in some scenarios, that would have been my position with the associated MCC's.

Who the hell was it that worked on them, was it ironhands? I remember someone saying that worked on the rigs offshore as an underwater welder.

Started on the ranches at 9. Moved to the pump company in jr high. Did concrete work as well & agree that it sucks. My worst concrete job was the foundation of a government building in downtown SLO back in 03ish. 4 of us with snow shovels & gas powered screed wading in waist deep concrete for nearly 18hrs. I couldn’t put my boots on the next day 😂
You have to tie rebar? I've done that shit for 10 hour days. Bent over the entire time. My back and hands would be killing me by the end of the day.

I’ve had to tie rebar but not as a full time job. Only for smaller jobs where we would need to set grade, forms, reinforcement & pour. Stuff that was completed in one to five days. The big jobs have trades separated into specific tasks

Dude, I've tied rebar for days upon days straight, when building bridge decks. It absolutely positively SUCKS.

Sewer diving in India is cleaner than bathing in the Ganges
Exactly, they shit on the beach or in the river, not in a toilet like a savage. Sewers are probably just underground streams in India.

Management used to ask operations for volunteers to replace the FAA bulbs on the stacks of a power plant I used to work at. 450’ stacks. A bunch of us would volunteer but it went by seniority. I had left by the time it was going to get to me & the plant was decommissioned that same year.

A crew of guys I came up with became cell phone tower guys. Travelling road crews.

Apparently they don't drug test in that industry because they were all dirtbags, lol. But I think you'd have to be methed out of your mind to do that all day then go live in a shitty motel for months at a time.
