status is set by the uploader: public, private, unlisted, members-only

if you make a video public, then change it to unlisted, anyone with the link can still see it. but it won't show up in searches or on the channels youtube page anymore

there are reasons to do so, but too hard to speculate in this case. my guess is that some intern doesn't know what unlisted means and meant to make it private lol
