Bidenflation Unexpectedly Accelerated In August To Fastest Pace In Over 30 Years

Inflation unexpectedly accelerated in August, as shortages of a wide range of consumer goods and services drove up prices.

The Personal Consumption Price Index for August increased 4.3 percent from one year ago, reflecting increases in the prices paid by consumers for both goods and services, Commerce Department data showed Friday. That is the fastest pace of inflation since January 1991.

Energy prices increased 24.9 percent from the depressed levels of a year ago. Food prices jumped 2.8 percent.

Core PCE prices, excluding food and energy, rose 3.6 percent compared with a year ago. That is also the fastest pace since 1991.

Compared with a month earlier, the PCE Price Index rose four-tenths of a percentage point. Analysts had forecast a three-tenths gain, which would have represented a one-tenth of a point slowdown from the July figure.

Core prices rose three-tenths of a point from July, matching the previous months gain and above the consensus forecast for two-tenths.
Inflation picked up for both goods and services. The index for goods rose 5.5 percent compared with a year ago, up from 5.3 percent in July. Durable goods prices jumped seven percent, up from 6.9 percent in the prior month. Prior to May and June of this year, inflation in durable goods has not run this hot since 1981. Nondurables rose 4.6 percent, up from 4.4 percent.

Services prices rose 3.6 percent, up from 3.5 percent. That is the fastest rate of inflation in services since 2006.

Speaking on a panel organized by the European Central Bank Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said he still expects inflation to ease eventually, but now expects high inflation to run into 2022. This spring Powell had declared high inflation would be transitory, which many Fed watchers understood to mean lasting just a few months.

“It’s also frustrating to see the bottlenecks and supply chain problems not getting better — in fact at the margins apparently getting a little bit worse,” he added. “We see that continuing into next year probably, and holding up inflation longer than we had thought.”

Democrats Nix COVID Tests For Illegal Migrants, Mandate Vaccines For Border Patrol

Democrats blocked an effort to require COVID-19 testing and vaccinations for migrants stopped at the border before they are released into U.S. communities

The move comes as President Biden requires federal employees, including members of the U.S. military and Border Patrol, to receive the COVID vaccine. The U.S. government will reportedly fund COVID testing for federal workers who are not yet vaccinated.

The amendment to require the testing of migrants was introduced by Iowa Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks as part of the continuing resolution that Congress was debating to keep the government funded through early December. The legislation ultimately passed the House without the amendment after House Democrats rejected it.

"My commonsense legislation would require the Department of Homeland Security to test all migrants illegally crossing our border who they plan to release into our communities, and they should be tested for COVID-19," Miller-Meeks said.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said recently that the 15,000 Haitian migrants who arrived at at the border in Del Rio, Texas were not tested by DHS for COVID-19.

The Biden Administration has been processing and releasing thousands of migrants who arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border. Rather than provide all of the released migrants with a court date to appear for their asylum claim, many are reportedly being asked to voluntarily report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Republicans in Congress have argued that such as system is unsustainable and serves as a magnet for more illegal immigration into the U.S.

"Think about what they're asking them to do," New York Republican Rep. John Katko, ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, said during an interview with Just the News. "Don't call us until this date and on this date, after you've settled into our country — where you have much more than you had in your own country you came from — then at that point call us so we can start deportation proceedings against you. I mean, come on, man, you know, they're not going to do that."

Miller-Meeks' amendment was rejected by 217 Democrats voting against it.

"The majority chose to block this commonsense bill that would ensure the health and safety of border patrol and border communities," Miller-Meeks wrote on Twitter.

A similar amendment from Miller-Meeks was blocked in March. According to House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy's office, 970,000 migrants have crossed the border since her original amendment was defeated.

Joey Biden loves taking knees. The "Leader of the free world should never bow to anyone"...

I think it's pretty common for an adult speaking to a random child - particularly an adult in a position of power who wants to put the child at ease - to take a knee to put themselves at eye level.

God, your memes are pathetic. You could just as easily have posted that photo and used it to compliment Biden for being a near 80 year old who is physically fit enough to easily kneel on concrete unassisted. That would have been a pathetic meme too, but at least it wouldn't have been a stupid lie.

Walking up some stairs...

Nice try, Goof...

Are you actuality legitimately simple? For real, do you have some sort of learning disability, that you think that either of those examples shows physical frailty?

The trouble with you Trump clowns is that you try to troll, but there's genuinely no difference between trolling and the usual stupid lying bullshit that you all babble every day.

Oh, he tripped on some stairs - something that literally every single one of us has done multiple times in their life.

Oh, his dog got tangled up around his feet and tripped him up, and he got a hairline fracture in his foot. Yes....... and? What does that mean to you?
