The lies are a huge part of the appeal. They get off on them.

Unfortunately, reality does have a liberal bias and that drives them fucking nuts. Climate change is real. Covid is real and genuinely dangerous too. Vaccines work. Biden won fair and square. Gay people are not in fact inherently evil. "Separate but equal" on the other hand, absolutely was. Abstinence-only education doesn't stop teens from having sex. The Bible is fiction. Etc etc etc. They are wrong on so much, and have been for so long, that they can no longer honestly defend that worldview as being reasonable and consistent with reality. Hence, the nonstop lies and conspiracy bullshit.
