look up "felony murder" and get back to me

and Parole Boards determine who gets Parole. If the circumstances don't warrant parole, then the convict doesn't get paroled.
Parole boards only dictate those that are granted the opportunity.
Deliberate murderers don't deserve the opportunity.
Your line of thinking destroys societies.

Try visiting a maximum security prison, or even medium security.
In a society that's already crumbling, obviously & deliberately, the most braindead retarded issue to visit is releasing those that contributed to it back out to it.

It's hard to believe there's a discussion regarding it.
At least it would've been 20 years ago.
These are the thoughts of fools.

Didn't he murder his wife for insurance money?

Not only is Ride The Lightning a great Metallica album, it's also a great way to purge the earth of scumbags and save tax dollars.

And before you tell me it costs more to execute someone - I'd get rid of the endless appeals process too.

But I'm resonable - I'd be open to a life spent in servitude to the public resulting in a net zero tax burden, but if you take a life - on purpose - you lose the right to have one. Forever.
two points -

1) the criminal justice system is imperfect, and lots of people are convicted of crimes they didn't commit. We've already killed innocent people, how many innocent deaths is acceptable to save how much money? what's the pivot point on those two lines?

2) if you don't have the moral authority to take a life absent an immediate defense of life and property, how can you confer that right on someone else?

Why use “every” and “death sentence “

he wants to release people that stabbed someone to death with garden shears.
people change, people mature. Even in prison.

because locking someone in a box until they die is a death sentence. If someone is sentenced to life without parole, it's a death sentence. They're dead to society.

1) Agreed. I'm only speaking to zero doubt cases.

2) Much like self defense, It's not being done without justification.

They're dead to society.
Other than that $35k/yr price tag

Say...200,000 people have this sentence.

That's $7 billion
Every year.

But not all would qualify to be whacked.
Let's say 5%

That's still $350 million.

You could do a lot of good with that money - maybe even help keep folks from heading down the path of lawlessness.

But let's be honest. The goal for prisons isn't to rehab anyone. It's to collect and spend tax dollars. To the tune of $80 billion / year. It's gross.

I don’t believe in second chance after you killed somebody and caused a lifelong of pain for the family.

Please post the stats
You chose the age 50 but almost 50% of released murderers commit a violent crime after release.

You know who can’t change and mature?

1) while there are "zero doubt" cases, it's a Justice system - not a Vengeance or Punishment system...there are a lot of theories of Justice, Rawls wrote a great book on his (for example). But I think Justice is when a person is penitent, they are given the opportunity to contribute to society again - regardless of their crime. Of course, for some despicable crimes on the edge there's no way to achieve penitence, but IMAO that's a job for parole boards - not jurors, judges, or legislators.

2) IMAO, it's immoral to kill someone absent the immediate defense of life or property. I can't "anoint" another with a power I don't myself possess

it's about power and what people do with it.

If the power includes the option to lock someone away with limited appeal opportunities forever, the profit incentive will drive the sentencing.

Fair enough.
I've always been on the "eye for an eye" side of the spectrum.

Well there you have it.
I have 2 eyes.
:)

i guess i'm saying that nobody in your immediate circle has been the victim of malicious prosecution or punitive sentencing.
people who haven't been abused by the system are more likely to idealize it.

I have a relative in prison. He's about half way through a 3 year stint. He's been in and out of prison for about half his life. Druggie. Thief.

I'd love it if he never got out. Dude is a fucking nightmare. Waste of flesh.
