no not really . this has been going around all day . we dont even officially have the new PM until tomorrow and omar algabrah isnt even a cabinet member right now. it is possible that it is coming but he isnt really that high profile and i would think anita armand or melonie joly would get the nod before he does. also the deputy PM isnt really much of a position. trudeau had one because he is lazy but harper never had one. there has only been 10 deputy PMs ever and almost all of them have been liberals

As of March 13, 2025, Canada does not have a Deputy Prime Minister. The position is currently vacant following the resignation of Chrystia Freeland on December 16, 2024. Freeland served as Deputy Prime Minister from November 20, 2019, until her resignation, during which she also held roles such as Minister of Finance and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. The office of Deputy Prime Minister is appointed at the discretion of the Prime Minister and does not carry a fixed portfolio or automatic succession rights. Since Freeland's departure, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has not appointed a replacement, leaving the role unused as of now.

I appreciate all you Canadians making room in your thread and patiently explaining answers to what probably seem like dumb questions to us non maple slurpers.

We Mericans don't really know shit about how your system works, this has been a really informative thread.

it could be possible for omar algebrah to be in carneys cabinet . he seems to be putting together a team of cast offs and people who either quit or forced to resign under trudeau . he is picking up all the rats that jumped off the sinking ship when it looked like reelection was impossible

I feel like the fact that we live in such an international world, and each other's democratic systems are all so different that even reasonably knowledgeable people need this shit explained to them is a strong condemnation of how countries run themselves.

OTTAWA, March 12 (Reuters) - Mark Carney will be sworn in as Canada's next prime minister on Friday morning, marking the final day of Justin Trudeau's more than nine years in power.
Governor General Mary Simon will preside over the swearing-in of Carney and his cabinet ministers Friday at 11 a.m., her office said in a statement.

Carney, a former central banker who led the Bank of Canada and Bank of England, was elected leader of the Liberal Party of Canada on Sunday. He will become Canada's 24th prime minister.

Carney will take over at a tumultuous time in Canada, which is in the midst of a trade war with longtime ally the United States under President Donald Trump and must hold a general election soon.
Carney's new cabinet may be about half the size of Trudeau's executive, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.
The cabinet is expected to have between 15 and 20 ministers, down from 37 currently including the prime minister, the report added, citing a source.

Bullshit on your bullshit - where the fuck you at in Ontario where 3 litre bags of milk aren’t available?
Your post quoted jason73 @jason73 mentioning "Canadian bacon" and you saying it's most common in Ontario, which is what I was calling bullshit on. However, I'd also call bullshit on 3 liter milkbags. 4 liters is the only liter quantity of bagged milk I've ever seen.
