I'm not even a lib, I think a lot of their positions are retarded. I do lean somewhat left (depending on the scale) but I base my views on reasoning rather than political affiliation. I'm not a fan of late term abortion, I support gun rights, I don't think Palestine is an innocent victim of Israel etc.

However, these views are not a matter of simple disagreements over political issues. This isn't like whether we should have tax breaks for people earning over a certain threshold. Some of these abortion laws are evil. The posters here either recognise this and are deflecting, which is cunty, or they actually agree with raped children not being able to get abortions, which leaves us with no middle ground to work with. If you have these views, you're a complete piece of shit.

This thread has sickened me. We have had comments such as:
  • Leaking the SCOTUS decision is the bigger issue.
  • Abortions are for whores.
  • 10 year old pregnant rape victim story is made up (it's not).
  • 10 year old pregnant girl may carry responsibility.
  • The doctor is to blame in the case of 10 year old pregnant rape victim being denied an abortion.
  • The rapist of the 10 year old was an illegal immigrant, so Biden should focus on that.
  • Strawman deflections about people wanting to kill babies after they're born.
I'm utterly, utterly repulsed by some of you here. The mental gymnastics you're doing to avoid acknowledging the simple truth that overturning Roe v Wade was a disgusting move that was facilitated by Trump is revolting.

Here's a tip: you can be conservative without supporting these pieces of shit.
RvW was always unconstitutional. Overturning it undoes bad "law" and is a step in the direction of being governed by legislative consensus of elected representatives, and restores the critical Separation of Powers to our system.

I can understand your argument in principle but the reality is that overturning Row v Wade has allowed millions of women to be subject to backwards abortion laws.

Either you misunderstand what I wrote or I misundertand what you wrote because I'm not generalising close to half the country (if you're referring to the US). I shall clarify my position, then you can reassess.

A person who thinks a raped child should be denied abortion is a piece of shit, along with people who support the stricter abortion laws. That's not a generalisation regarding half the US. Maybe you were referring to some retarded theocratic country, or maybe I wasn't clear. Nothing to do with identity politics, I generally get on better with people who have different political views to me. However, some views are too extreme.

the Democrats and "pro-choice-ish" Republicans failed to make law because it helped their fundraising. This is their fault, not Trump or certain Justices.

the overturning was just pulling the Band-Aid off, and it needed to happen sooner than later. Imagine how much more damage could have been done if a judiciary with the same originalist/limited interpretation of the Constitution suddenly decided to revoke "rights" that had been in place for a century...the political upheaval would be far more devastating than this (relatively) short period where we try and figure out how to come together and establish real privacy rights.

A person who thinks a raped child should be denied abortion is a piece of shit, along with people who support the stricter abortion laws.
literally 40% of the US thinks abortion should be illegal, in all cases, regardless of the circumstances leading to pregnancy.

You are, in fact, calling almost have the US "a complete piece of shit human". You're dehumanizing someone because they're perspective doesn't align with your perspective. It's the worst kind of "real Scotsman" fallacy, because you're basically saying anyone who doesn't agree with you isn't really human...that your self-identity is what makes you human. That's "identity politics" with the knob at 11.

Recognizing it is an opportunity for growth.

Less than 40% of the US thinks abortion should be illegal in all cases and they are indeed pieces of shit. I am not dehumanising them because their persepective doesn't agree. Someone may think abortion should be banned after 20 weeks except in cases of incest or rape and that would be a perspective I disagree with but can understand. I would not call them a piece of shit.

I am specifically using the term for people who would deny a pregnant 10 year old an abortion. I don't care how much of the population that includes.

exactly.

37% of the US population are complete pieces of shit, according to you. sub-human, lacking critical skills or empathy...we get it.

your perspective makes you the Good Guy.

People want to deny a TEN YEAR OLD RAPE VICTIM an abortion and I'm the one dehumanising people? GTFO.

This is why I've learned not to engage you. I made a mistake this time thinking you may try to be honest and civil. Don't worry, it won't happen again.

PS 37% is not nearly half.

LoL. let's split hairs on percentages now that you've been shown the facts.

37% of Americans think abortion should be illegal in ALL OR MOST cases. This isn't some outlier fringe group of sub-human cretins, as you enjoy telling yourself.

It's a sizable chunk of voting Americans. You can't understand their perspective, due to a lack of empathy, and you're assuaging your ego bruise by telling yourself they're less significant than they actually are.

That's a false characterization of that survey. 37% said illegal in "all or most" cases, vs. legal in "all or most", which means there probably are people who believe in exceptions for rape or incest that answered that way. That doesn't add up to 37% falling into the category Leigh is talking about - who are terrible people with no compassion - imo they are evil or naive followers of evil.

Laws should not be based on what someone believes "God intended". We have a separation of church and state here. Little girls should be valued as people, allowed to recover from trauma without compounding it first or risking their lives and bodies unnecessarily, and they should not be treated like vessels for whatever harm men want to bring to them.

And people who believe they should be disregarded as human beings of value in this manner are pieces of shit.

I stand with Leigh @Leigh on that.

The facts are that you said nearly half, I said it's not half but I don't care, you then came back with 37%.
The facts are that you started with personal attacks. I guess because...well because you don't have an argument, other than I think those people are pieces of shit and you got a booboo on your feelings :snowflake::snowflake::snowflake:

You can't understand their perspective, due to a lack of empathy, and you're assuaging your ego bruise by telling yourself they're less significant than they actually are.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA yes in a case where people are forcing a child rape victim to have a baby and I think they're scum, I'm the one lacking empathy.

Your turn now. I won't even respond, I'll give you the last word on this. Anyone reading can make up their mind on who's position carries any semblance of rationality.

it's accurate to say that a huge percentage of Americans think that abortion should be illegal in all or most cases. It's not a fringe group or outliers, it's a rational and highly empathetical position to say that all human life is equal and that one tragedy isn't fixed with another. It doesn't mean that they're dehumanizing or devaluing the life of the 10 yo.

I don't agree with it, even though I think overturning RvW was the right thing to do. I'm just not deluding myself by saying that everyone who disagrees with me is "human scum" or "pieces of shit"...which is the kind of dehumanization that makes the whole 'crabs in a bucket' system work.

This is the time to come together and agree on a right to privacy/body autonomy law. Instead, people are busy tossing around their respective teams' Fund-Raising Talking Points. It's a pay-as-you-jizz intellectual jerk-off session.

You do realize that it’s possible to think roe should have been overturned and that the 10 year old should have access to an abortion at the same time right???
