Yes Tenshin had a lot hype before the Floyd exhibition. Isn’t he a full time boxer now?
Yes. He apparently just won by not so convincing decision. I guess there is more money in boxing…just that with One, it opened up more exposure for Kickboxing and opportunity to fight some bigger names like Rodtang (although he beat him before), Superlek etc. Guess the money should still be bigger in boxing.

Bonds, what do u think of Ilia’s boxing for MMA? Its being called the best now and perhaps ever so far by some. He does seem to have a lethal mix of power, accuracy, ability to get into his ideal range, good form.
Pretty remarkable considering he is from a grappling background and not from a known boxing region.

And who did u pick this wknd and what can Max do to win?

Max actually looked good and was flustering and giving Topuria trouble with the jab and range. Also with that oblique kick but if we’re talking about hands, it was even pretty much until Ilia’s power finally sealed the deal.

Also think it shows again that pure reach on its own does not really show true reach. They both have 69” reach but Max being taller def looked to have the reach advantage and Ilia was not able to move fwd as he normally does. Even looking flustered at the end of round 3.

That brawling style was eventually going to catch up to him. Max needed to fight behind that one-two all fight and not make a mistake because of that power.

You thought Max was brawling Ilia tonight? Didn’t see that at all. The right hand that caught Max was just a regular exchange. I thought he was peppering him with the jab and short combos. While he did get hit too, nothing was of note until the end. Credit to Ilia for still hitting the make having more trouble than he ever did.

Honestly my stream had went bad for this fight. I need to watch it again. I meant his chin was going to eventually let him down because of his style. I trust your breakdown.

Ok, I get cha. Yeah, his chin always kept him afloat as good as he was, he did take shots throughout this career. Not sure if the siIng is off of the uploaded pic but one of the videos summarized some insane numbers for him to finally get KO’d.

Bad recipe against someone like Ilia. Luke Thomas and the Weasle also have good breakdowns of Max getting caught trying to either change stances and/or moving to his left and getting stung with the Ilia right before he could move. He was never the fastest guy. I guess he had the chin as a physical attribute but was not a power puncher or very fast.

I think Ilia has more raw punching power than Connor where as Connor while having more power than Anderson, is more of a long range sniper that just hits the right button. That would have been a good fight in Connor’s prime.

If Ilia gets close he can coil for a bomb and that is exactly what he did

Max kept him at range mostly then when it got tight a couple times he ate a few and it was nasty power and pinpoint accuracy for a guy who came up in MMA due to grappling...Topuria has raw natty power and has fast fast hands
