Rather than plug my own shit right from the get-go, I'd like to recommend the best possible value in any folding knife ever made.

The Opinel No 8 Carbon can be had for 12-16USD. Fantastic little companion.
i have like 50 knives and i love the simple opinel . they are super sharp and hold an edge forever . the blade is thin af and great for precision cuts . your not going to gut a deer with it but that is not what it is made for . i usually bring mine when i am in a setting where people might freak out if you whip out a real knife . i used to carry a EDC tactical flipper and sometimes office types would act like you just pulled out an illegal weapon when you help them open something up. nobody freaks out over an opinel or swiss army knife . they usually want to see it and have questions.

I have a few, but the CRKT M16 with a blaze orange handle is my favorite.

I've had it for nearly two decades. At the time I bought it, I had a problem losing knives. I go camping, backpacking, hunting, fishing, etc. I've dropped many knives in the woods or a river or lake numerous times which is why I went with a blaze orange handle with this one (they offer a black handle too). I can't lose this thing. I've dropped it many times, but it is always easy to find. The blade holds up well, and given the partial serrations, it has been very useful over the years. It has been my go-to for many years.

jason73 gave me a SOG around Christmas time. I've made that my hunting knife for gutting out animals. It's held up well so far. I have a few others that I rarely use. There is a Leatherman in my tackle box for fishing (pliers are useful there) and another in my saddle bag on my bike along with another in my truck that I've never had the need to use.

I probably have like ten or so pocket knives. One of those things that if Mrs greenbean asks what I want for a birthday or something, this and flashlights is an easy go to. I don't use cologne and other typical shit that people might get. I thought I was getting carried away with my knife and flashlight collection, but I see I still have some room to grow.

This is my EDC.

It's called a Sungkete. A mix of a karambit and a dagger.

It's a quick death in steel-form. Hold it once and its intended use becomes plainly apparent.

Here are just the ones I have inside minus the Leathermans and mini keychain ones.

PXL_20250325_210125476~2.jpg

  1. The Swiss Army knife I found. It was dirty as fuck. I cleaned all of my knives earlier this year (like removed the plastic and boiled the metal to get the gunk off), and I've never used that one.
  2. The next is a Kershaw Leek. The blade is sharp, and it is actually a good EDC since it is rather thin overall which makes it easier to carry in like the fifth pocket of a pair of jeans.
  3. The third is the CRKT I mentioned earlier.
  4. Then the SOG jason73 gave me.
  5. The fifth is a Gerber I've had for around three decades.
  6. The top one is a Havalon that uses replacement blades that are super sharp but don't hold up at all to heavy use. They are great at skinning animals though.

I'm not a knife aficionado by any means, but when I saw bushkill blades work, I knew I had to pester him for as long as it took, to get a cigar knife. This is the end result and I couldn't have been happier IMG_3883.jpeg

Do we have an official knife thread? I searched and didn’t find one. Post your edcs, knife porn, reviews here. I’ll start by asking if anyone here has used civivi knives? I came across them yesterday and the reviews look positive for the price point.

I don't condone purchasing chinese goods, but understand that people like chinese price points. Civivi is having a sale on just about all their knives through the 16th for Father's day. You can find 25%-35% off on their website, Amazon (which I also don't condone purchasing through), and the WE website.

I'm a fan of Protech knives, and luckily I live in Texas where we can carry auto knives. I don't buy Chinese made knives but I'll admit they're making quality knives.

Great idea! Always nice to have a go-to spot for knife talk.

Civivi is actually really solid for the price. They're essentially the budget-friendly line from WE Knife Co., which is known for high-end production knives. Civivi hits a sweet spot with good fit and finish, decent blade steels (like D2, Nitro-V, or 14C28N), and smooth action thanks to their ball-bearing pivots. You get a lot of knife for under $100.

I’ve got the Civivi Elementum — super clean design, great EDC size, and it just disappears in the pocket. Also heard good things about the Baby Banter and the Praxis if you're into different styles or blade lengths.

Would love to see what everyone else is carrying or into right now. Let’s see those pics and recommendations!

It's pretty nice. Super sharp. Does anyone have any tips or good links on sharpening?
