TMMAC Sponsors a Family in Need

Our very own snow Mexican, Kelly came across a local charity doing the following

This year we will once again be sponsoring a family in need and this years family is a single dad (mom left when the kids were younger) and he has 3 girls all aged 10 years and older.

Dad was employed part time at the College here in Kelowna as well as a part time student in the trades.

Sadly dad has just been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour and is not able to work. He is currently waiting for medical EI to start but in the meantime has no benefits at all because he was only employed part time. Once EI begins it is still not enough to cover day to day expenses let alone Xmas.

No pressure at all, this is completely voluntary...........whoever would like to contribute please let me know.

This would allow us to sponsor the family in conjunction with this charity that will also be sending a a chunk. Given the family's needs for several months and Christmas, the teaming together would be able to help them have a good holiday that may or may not be their last together.

I'm curious to know. As a beard I have charitable obligations to fulfill around the holidays, but unfortunately there's only so much loot to float around.

Yeah same here, we drop off a hamper to a random government housing flat every year. Not sure about it this year though since Im now shopping at the same supermarket as the them and they seem to be living it up year round.
