Trump is a master of taking whatever dems say about him and making it a joke. Then the people who originally said "deplorable" or "garbage" are now the butt of the joke until the next time which usually doesn't take too long. It goes back to 2015 when Democrats tried to take on internet trolls and failed miserably. Remember when the internets told media the ok hand gesture was a hate crime and they believed it? It turns out the people who think they're important enough to tell us how to think are actually idiots.
