They latched onto the Puerto Rico joke immediately and are calling it racist, which seems crazy to me because it's not racist. Plus, he also made a black guy watermelon joke which is a whole lot worse.

Why the hell would he do that? Making a joke for shock value at a political rally is pretty stupid. That's all MSM will be talking about tomorrow. Feeds right into their "Trump is a racist" rhetoric. Idiotic.

That's what he knows and mostly all he knows. He gets laughs and gets away with it on his show every week and his decision making probably isn't calibrated for normal society. You could almost tell he threw it in there and it wasn't part of the set. It was dumb to do, but also kind of funny in the same way some of the antics Norm MacDonald would pull were funny.

If someone doesnt vote for Trump because of something a stand up said at one of the many, many rallies he is done, they probably were never going to vote for him anyway.

Agreed.
It's just negative press that feeds into what they've been saying about Trump for years. It could sway some fence-sitters, although probably not enough to amount to anything.

Doesn't mean it wasn't foolish.

Anyone that's ever been to puerto rico knows it's an absolute shithole outside of the tourist areas. Margaret Sanger was right about puerto ricans.
