He once bought a laundry mat and called Eddie Money Laundering
"Take me home tonight"
Dude made some great tunes.
About 10 years ago, me and 5 buddies jumped into a van and took a road trip to Bristol, TN for a NASCAR race weekend. The passengers were all slamming beers on the way down there and having a good old time. Eddie Money came on the radio and in a moment of calmness, the driver turned down the radio a little bit and said "You know what's better than Eddie Money?" He paused for timing, then said "EDDIE MONEY LOUD" and he cranked the knob to 11. We all went full Wayne's World and sang the lyrics to "Two Tickets to Paradise" in perfect harmony.
King of Queens
This doesn't sound in the slightest bit redneck. AT ALL.
Eddie Money Dead at 70 from Complications from Heart Valve Procedure
hung out backstage when he played the DISH Network Summit in early 2ks.
Real nice guy, seemed very gregarious and friendly.
That's awesome. He did seem like a good dude.
it was the same year/event where I met Billy Crystal, turns out that was 2001. Mr. Crystal was an exceptionally 'good dude'.
I didn't talk to Eddie, and I left right after the show started. I just watched him interacting with a bunch of strangers for a half hour. But he opened with 2 Tickets, and I heard he did it at least once as an encore. At the time, I remember thinking 'kind of sad'. But then a few years later I saw MGMT play Outside Lands and they didn't play "Kids" in their set.
It was weird...bordering on disrespectful. I thought about Eddie Money and said to myself "Eddie Money says Fuck You". I realized that Eddie was out there giving everybody what they wanted, spreading joy, collecting checks, and managing to do it without becoming a caricature of himself. So of all the "washed-up 80s male pop vocalists", I have a little bit of a soft spot for Eddie Money.
