The injury bug couldn't have bitten much harder than this. It looks like the UFC 189 headliner between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor may be in jeopardy. Reports are surfacing that Aldo has suffered an injury in training. Further examinations apparently found that he'd fractured rib. No news yet as to whether this will cancel his bout with Conor McGregor, however it's hard to see the fight going ahead with such a severe injury just two and half weeks out from the day. Combate correspondent Ana Hissa broke the news on Twitter:

Apparently, those reports may have been jinxed the whole thing, as Hissa further clarified that Aldo's rib injury happened just today:

As pissed and depressed as we are right now, you can only imagine what's going on in the ufc offices right now. They spent a lot of money on this fight....

But maybe they should have promoted the co-main too?

So do they reschedule the fight, or do they give Edgar or Mendes the opportunity to beat the brakes off Conor?

Truth is even if Conor somehow beat Aldo (which he wasn't), he'd get smashed by both Mendes and Edgar..... In 3 fights he'd be an undercard guy or a Fight Pass headliner.

Conor just lost major major money because IF, and that's a huge if, they put him in with Medes of Frankie he will be smoked and in no way shape or form can Zuffa justify giving him a title shot.

Conor just lost a few million fighting Aldo and more money after he loses to whoever steps in for Aldo.
