Youre totally right...and thanks homie..Step dads get bad wrap a lot...cuz it's hard to take orders from a guy who's not your dad technically and you don't understand as a kid the dynamic of the situation...I thought because he made me mind, do chores and had a bed time that he was a jerk, but I eventually realized it we structure that a man who cares gives a kid...Fishing and sports bonded me and him..

My stepson & I didn't talk for a year, although it wasn't all his fault. But we're close now. I was a stoner party animal with trouble at work. Not that I was real drug addict or drunk or anything, but for lack of a better term, I've been clean & sober for over 8 years now.
The stepson wasn't academically inclined (to put it kindly) & was incredibly lazy. Like, an amoeba & shit. Now he's 25 & has been with the same girl since junior year in high school. He's the right hand man of a big-time chef in Boulder, works his ass off, lives with his chick (she gorgeous & has done some modeling for a tattoo magazine), & does art on the side. We bonded through music, comic books, movies, & MMA. He never trained (bro), but was a fan & always gives me props for being into MMA before it got big (since UFC 2).
Although I yelled a lot & we fought often, he realizes know I was trying to look out for him the best I could. Now that he's a man, he understands how tough it was being a stepparent. And as stoned as I was a lot of the times, I wasn't exactly wrong about a lot of things.
It sounds like we've both had family members with colorful pasts. Luckily things worked out.

Based on what? People where masks at sporting events all the time. I somehow lawless Brazil was where people decided to draw a line in the sand because "It's unsafe that we can't see their faces!!!" the reebok deal was pure greed from the UFC, and reebok's terms were absolutely retarded, but now that it's in place, they have to honour the contract. You wouldn't see a coca cola ad with product placement for other companies, even if it would actually be mutually beneficial. I'm sure there are cases of co-advertising but you certainly can't expect the UFC to just do it because Werdum made some effort.
maybe if he had actually approached them about it beforehand he would've been told that it's a no go because of the ad, but either he was incredibly dense and didn't consider it, or tried to force it through by having too many fans turning up with them to be denied.

C'mon man, it's petty as hell. Who the fuck is going to see, or pay attention to, that little ass logo on TV (PPV)? No one. I get the company line "if we let Werdum it, everyone will want to do it". That's bullshit as well. What other fighters are going to spend $25k or whatever it was for face masks of themselves? No one else has the troll face shtick like Werdum. Mark Hunt or Robbie Lawler just going to pop headbands on and get masks made up with Gatorade on the headbands, for the fuck of it? The entire situation is absurd.
NOBODY gets a free PPV broadcast plug of that nature, maybe issues or not with it being online gaming but either way, the only way to do it fair is never allow it.
I guess this is just my personal problem with how corporate the UFC has become over the past 6-7 years. Before FOX and Reebok, this wouldn't have been an issue at all. Dana and Lorenzo would have loved a fighter taking the initiative to try and promote themselves and the event...sponsor on headband or not. There are pro's & con's with corporate UFC. IMO, this type of shit is one of the con's.
They have a very limited way of thinking which may work to their benefit in some areas, but get exposed in situations like this. It's a young sport, eventually Bellator and other orgs will force the UFC to adapt to allow fighters to individualize themselves. It's pretty sad how they are trying to marginalize the individuality of the fighter. Being an MMA company based in the U.S., where personal liberty is paramount, they need to loosen the reigns a little. They must accept the fact that the fighters will eventually run this shit to a certain extent. Hopefully not to the level of boxing.
Well everyone knew what was gonna happen, UFC and Reebok wanna be something they will never be.
