No, it's so good for our sport, guys! Fighters get a portion of the gear sales and free clothes. Between that and the fighter insurance, they just have to pay for food and housing, but you know that most of these guys are cutting weight and don't eat. Also, they usually just live with a friend, coach, or sleep at the gym. These guys are multimillionaires. If you knew what they really got paid, you'd be so jelly right now. So jelly

I wonder how much Mir and Hunt would have made from individual sponsors? My guess is, at least $50k per fight each. So basically, those two probably would have made close to what this entire card was paid by Reebok.

Have you seen any of their products? Either they quit producing them or they suck so bad no one cares to mention em.

I also wonder if the rare occurrence of an Aussie card would have drove up the prices for sponsors since people in that niche don't get the opportunity to advertise as often as someone targeting the USA demographic. But we will never know cuz Egg and Company shut that all down.

Actually, come to think of it, it has been a while since they pulled a Giblert. At least that's something positive. BTW, why Giblert wasn't an official fighter in UFC2 is beyond me. He and Lyoto Silva (or whatever that other fuckup was) should be a tag team.

the UFC need to get reebok to amend their deal.

the UFC has other sponsors that are plastered all over the canvas and corner posts, ads announced by Goldberg etc so why not actually put a section on the gear for sponsors and just rule out other apparel brands? and for those fighters who don't have sponsors, they can use the space for personal stuff like Cerrone's patch or TheBigPygmy/JustinWren @TheBigPygmy/JustinWren website info for his Pygmy cause. Even having to wait for the UFC/Reebok to add that sponsor (or a personal thing) to an approved list would be better than what we have now.

and the black/white white/black sets are fucking awful too ... although it's early days

Can someone please explain to me why the payments the fighters receive are now known as Reebok payments?

Is the UFC not the employer? I have much confuse.

As far as I understood the situation: the Reebok payments were on top of what the UFC paid the fighters.

After all, The fighters are 'UFC fighters' not 'Reebok fighters' right?

Am I correct in my understanding that the Reebok deal means that the entirety of the money earned comes from Reebok?
If so, what do the fighters receive from the UFC?

Is it true that Mark fucking Hunt and Frank fucking Mir were paid 10K and 20K IN TOTAL?

Isn't sponsorship money in addition to a base salary?

Is this pittance the actual base salary?

haha it's simple.

reebok pays sponsor money. entirely separate from everything else. the UFC handle it via their "bracket system" based on total fights under the zuffa banner i.e UFC, WEC and Strikeforce, but I don't believe Pride fights count even though they bought it.

Only WEC and Strikeforce fights that occurred post-Zuffa purchase count. Anything before that isn't included which is why the Pride fights don't count.
