It's "so far, so good" for the UFC in 2015. After posting a record-high rating on Fox Sports 1 for the Conor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver card, the preliminary ratings for UFC on Fox 14: Gustafsson vs. Johnson are pegged at approximately 2.82 million viewers per TVbythenumbers.com. By Tuesday, the final number will be known and higher than the overnight ratings. Unlike past Fox shows, the main event ended before 10 PM, which means there won't be as big a bump from the preliminary rating compared to other Fox cards.

The 2.82 million viewers is an increase from UFC on Fox 13: Dos Santos vs. Miocic in December, which pulled in a 2.27 million preliminary rating and finished with a 2.8 million average. It's also the highest rated Fox event since UFC on Fox 6. Johnson vs. Dodson averaged 4.2 million viewers and peaked at 5.2 million on January 26th, 2013.
This is definitely another positive for the UFC, who did very little in the way of televising this event in the US until last week's card in Boston. Historically, the UFC has used NFL broadcasts to promote their January Fox shows, but chose to focus their attention on Conor McGregor.

When you combine the solid ratings on Fox with the $3.1 million live gate and attendance of 30,000 in Stockholm, this event was definitely a success (unless you're Swedish, in which case the local fighters were unfortunately anything but that). With just one event left in the month, UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz, it looks like the UFC's promoting of this month being the strongest January lineup in the promotion's history is proving to be true, both in the fights themselves as well as the viewership.
