Ok, People asked me why Shamrock loses.
So Vovchanchyn previously lost via a leg lock so he's going to go in this fight with the serious intent to stay standing. However that was in 95 so he's had 2 years to work on keeping things standing. In that time his only other sub loss was a chin in the eye sub. In the 20+ fights he had up until 97 from 95 he had 18 or so wins vis strikes, a sub and some decisions. There is no way he's going to let Ken take him to the ground knowing Ken loves it there.
Ken is roided to the gills and his cardio was suspect at the time. He only fought 4 times in 1996 and then not again until 2000 so he was slowing down. He won a decision and lost a decision and two subs. Kneebar and forarm choke. He wants to go to the ground but Igor keeps the distance, and sets a pace on Ken. This wears down Shammy. Igor has heavy heavy hands and because he's going to stay away from Ken but stay close enough to punish him Ken gets worn down and starts to drop his hands. Igor catches him and opens up a win via strikes.
