Hollywood had a run of good Westerns for a bit there

The early 90s brought us Young Guns, Dances With Wolves, City Slickers.

Then Hollywood stepped it up...

1992 - Unforgiven
1993 - Tombstone
1994 - Maverick
1995 - The Quick & The Dead

There were some other ones mixed in there too. Costner's Wyatt Earp.

Westerns fell off sharply after the mid 90s.

Meh.
If it wasn't released so close to Tombstone it probably would have received more love. But there is no comparison. Tombstone is one of the best Westerns ever.

Django was in 2012 you goof.
And I mentioned both Costner movies i assume you are referencing.
Nope

I was talking about open range. You said they fell off sharply after the mid 90s. I provided Django unchained as proof that westerns are alive and well

20 years later, bro.

True Grit was solid for a remake too.

The Unforgiven was a great movie. I haven't seen that one in years, I think I will have to hit that up on Netflix.

Just because Australia still looks like America did in the 1800s, movies filmed there aren't automatically considered Westerns.
The proposal was a damn good movie tho.

If that's what's it's called. It's got that guy who tattoos himself so he doesn't forget stuff.

Can't remember his name
