General What are you reading?

I was reading Why Machines Learn: The Elegant Math Behind Modern AI, it is complete hell to get through because the math is way over my head. So then I read Where the Crawdads Sing as a break, unfortunately that was an easy 2 sitting read and now I'm back to the hell that is the first book.

Reading Cormac McCarthy's border trilogy. Almost done with The Crossing.
Honest to god, I have tried to read almost every single one of his books and could never finish any of them. His punctuation (lack thereof) and prose really bother me and I cannot for the life of me figure out how this guy got so popular. I understand the grit of his stories and why that is appealing but the way he writes is so distracting me.

Reading his stuff is definitely different. There is a certain flow to them. Unlike anyone else. I like the gritty realism to his books. People are definitely going be. On the live or not like his stuff. No gray area.

I dig it. You know warrens are dangerous?
Really loving the storyline of Yedan.
I personally think that Yedan and Brys are the most lethal people outside of people like Icarium, Anomander, Caladan, etc.

One of my favorite scenes is Brys picking Rhulad apart. Didnt break a sweat.

I think one on one, Brys takes it. I think Yedan is the better warfighter though.

I also think Brys beats Anomander one on one and would beat the Seguleh First.

I also think that with enough prep time, Ceda Kuru Qan cannot be beaten by anyone below an Elder God.

Have you even read it?
Read the first and part of the second. Or maybe it was 1 and 2 and part of 3. It was ok. Its just not LOTR level, imo.

LOTR is the gold standard for the genre. All other stories can be measured against it.

I once again recommend Malazan Book of the Fallen for anyone into fantasy and military themes. It kicks off with the chain of dogs.
I need to add that to my list
I have one more book by Sanderson, the sunlit man, then I'm completely caught up with him
Currently switching between Infinite Jest and Julius Caesar by Phikio Freeman

Loli fucking love Cormac. I haven't read everything but what I have has been fantastic imo

If you want something fun and fast paced I have two suggestions
The first is the Bobiverse series. Sci-fi, if you like Andy Weir's books you'll probably like
The second is the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. LitRPG, which I'm not usually into, and a lot of fun

Yeah most people do. Picture me trying to read Blood Meridian and thinking, why do people rave about this piece of shit book. Lol.
I started Blood Meridian 3x before I finished. Now I've finished it at least 3x

Moby Dick was another I started multiple times but now I love and I've finished a few times

I was underwhelmed with that. A lot of questions, no real answers
Yeah, I went in knowing that'd be the case. I'm leery of any book that claims to have "finally solved" a case. They almost always arrive backwards to a conclusion and ignore any inconvenient facts. (e.g. 90% of true crime mysteries)

Sword of Shannara and the whole series was much appreciated when I read them as a young teen.
Thinking about Gaimans book horse mythology. To keep things grounded. He's accused of sexual assault which is in his favor but he's a kike which isn't. Anyone read it?

I love his Norse Mythology book, I own the physical and audio copy

He's a liberal bitch at times but if you like Norse mythology then it's definitely worth grabbing
