Back at the old headquarters Lupo's theory is that this is just a publicity stunt, like a primer for the real thing, which will go down in October. I have to say it's plausible---they threw this fight together SO fast, like in record time. So while I agree there's no way it won't happen because there's so much dough involved, it may not happen in May. It's possible both sides knew all this and just trolled for more publicity. You never know with these fucking promoters, anything goes.
80-100k and all that does seem ridiculous, but it's an historic fight, so, that adds to it. I just hope it doesn't end up another goddamn De La Hoya-Trinidad, a hugely anticipated fight at the time, and in fact a better matchup on paper since both were in their primes, but a total sleeping pill when it went down.
But yeah, again, lots of fools are paying to be seen at an historic event and not so much to see the (hopefully) magnificent boxing. Although it would be cool to have a ticket stub with the words Mayweather-Pacquiao on it and to tell your grandchildren you were there.
