There's some debate about whether or not it ever can develop as much as some might expect it to. You're simply never going to have as many women wanting to fight as you will men so the talent pool will be much, much smaller. Young, male wrestlers outnumber young, female wrestlers in the US something like 27 times over.

It's like saying USA vs 1 or 2 of its states in football or whatever. It's just not equal.

This is true WMMA has been around a long time too like you say but its about popularity and momentum, just like with the men, you needed your stars to draw in the aspiring young fighters and get more people involved in general.

I agree women will naturally be drawn to the fight game less than men but there is still a lot of young talent to be tapped into.

I feel like WMMA would survive best if it was placed into a seperate org to thrive on it's own. Cramming women onto the men cards just makes things worse to me.

The UFC should get fully behind Invicta and keep all of the women under that banner and help them grow from there.

One thing they have to do is figure out how to get more of the top women judo specialists to come over to MMA. I'm talking about top international athletes. The UFC got 1 so far and she is blowing all of the other women out.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

It's in kind of a weird position for me. I like Ronda and appreciate how dominant she is. It's like watching Anderson go full matrix and annihilate everyone. I also enjoy the fight for #2 and think are a handful of really talented women at 135 (115 looks promising so far, but I don't know most of the fighters yet). Unfortunately there's no one to challenge her and without a legitimate threat she's not a headliner for me.

I hope they stay and prosper, but I have my doubts. The last ppv numbers will be very telling one way or another.

Anyone know how old Ronda's sister is?
I had this weird premonition after her fight that she will retire undefeated, and her sister will take over from there... idk, just a random thought.

I am starting to lose all interest in the bw division but the strawweight division looks very promising. There are a bunch of young, talented women and the skill level across the board is higher than bw, imo.
