Not really, the experience is very different from person to person. The one thing I'd reckon is m
Ost important would be learning the language.
It's all about being happy with what you do and where you are, good for you. There is a LOT to be said about a company that makes you happy enough to stay. Sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side. Good work schedule is worth its weight in gold. You are the definition of success.I'm an airline pilot for a regional airline. I love my job. I make decent money. I could make quite a bit more money if I moved on to a major airline, but I'm really senior at my company and get a good schedule.
Came close to going to South Korea to teach in my early 20s...Didn't go through with it at the end...Kind of wish I did, but its nothing I strongly regret. My gf taught there for 2 years, she said it was quite eye opening, especially since she's brown (she's a 'coloured' South African). On a serious note though. I'd advice anyone in their early twenties to teach ESL in SEA for a year or so. It's an incredibly eye-opening experience for any westerner. Women tend to fucking hate it, and men to love it... for reasons I cannot begin to fathom.
Oh yeah mate. I've got a black friend from NYC who was told at the beginning of quite a few interviews that "sorry, you're black. The kids will be scared of you" that shit hurt her feels badly. On a side-note Asian kids are not scared of black people, nor are most of their parents. School administrators tend to be a conservative lot with a lot of preconceived unchallenged notions.Came close to going to South Korea to teach in my early 20s...Didn't go through with it at the end...Kind of wish I did, but its nothing I strongly regret. A female cousin of mine taught ESL in Thailand for a few years and, other than some bad floods, had a great experience. On a serious note though. Everyone's different which is why I am not sure I am the right guy to give advice. When I came to Thailand I didn't have any idea I'd become an English teacher. Shit, I had 5 million baht to burn didn't start teaching full time until after 2 years. I have survived 6 months on 10 baht a day and the occasional weed deal. My experience isn't the norm I reckon.A female cousin of mine taught ESL in Thailand for a few years and, other than some bad floods, had a great experience.
No, you are definitely a unique individual. Gotta say that I enjoy the fuck out of your contributions on here, though. I was a crazy fucker when I was young, but you are on a completely different level.Everyone's different which is why I am not sure I am the right guy to give advice. I blame white people Seriously though, a lot of people I came up around are doing hard time or are dead. Which is why I consider it weird when someone accuses me of lying. No, you are definitely a unique individual. Gotta say that I enjoy the fuck out of your contributions on here, though. I don't doubt it. I can relate, too. I don't have enough fingers and toes to list off the people I grew up with that are dead, in prison, or have fried their brains on all manner of garbage.I blame white people Seriously though, a lot of people I came up around are doing hard time or are dead. I own and run two companies that operate in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry - a media/marketing agency, and a sampling company. What do you do for a living?
What are your prospects or isn't there any?
Does it pay well?
Is it something you are lucky enough to enjoy or do you have to stick with it now (responsibilities etc)?
You sound like a busy man!I own and run two companies that operate in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry - a media/marketing agency, and a sampling company.
I'm self employed, so no real prospects in terms of further career progression - unless I go back to working for someone else.
My accountant ensures that my "pay" is minimal.
I love the field I work in, especially since the business does not follow "traditional" methods of doing things.

The correct term is "grease monkey"Apart from being a professional story teller I also am a mechanic / technician (my job title sometimes varies)
I fix stuff.
Pay is good. Work is pretty chill for the most part and I get all the bells and whistles benefits wise. Progression is there down the line, although a different job wouldn't necessarily mean an increase in pay, by that I mean in 5 years time I expect I would just get my yearly increase each year and wouldn't expect a bump if I changed roles
