Discrimination based on sexual orientation, as well as race and a number of other classes, is illegal. I think that's a good thing.
If a baker is told what to do it can be taken as tyrannical. If someone is told they aren't given the same rights and privileges as others (no cake for you), that can also be interpreted as tyranny.

No, I disagreed that it's a good thing. The reason we needed to pass same sex legislation was because the government* wouldn't give equal rights to same sex couples. The reason slavery needed to be ended was because from the outset the government* decided that the bill of rights didn't apply to blacks. The reason that segregation needed to be ended was because the government* had decided that blacks and whites shouldn't be in the same places. The same governments who are now generously giving equality to people are the same ones who took it away to begin with. I could go on, but I'm sure at this point you get the picture.
*"Government" was used as a catch all term for various governmental bodies as I didn't feel like getting into the more specific levels or groups within the government.

I think if a business wants to discriminate, based on whatever criteria they decide, the gov't should have no say in it.

I'm all for limited government, but establishing freedom by limiting freedom doesn't make sense.
If a business can't or doesn't want to help me with a service the last thing I'd ever do is try to force my money into their pockets. If I ordered a cake and the baker refused his service to me for any reason I'm more than happy to find another baker who's competent or not an asshole. In the event I did try to force his hand how good of quality should I be expecting? More than likely the bare minimum.
