This right here. The belt nonsense is not a GSP problem, it's all over the place. It's what the UFC is now, it is what it is.

Also, you can't force fighters to fight in a weightclass they don't think is their best.

How did he "steal" that fight? I think it was offered to GSP, and Bisping was all for that fight. With your reasoning, I think you could blame Bisping equally.
Dont worry your GOAT will vacate or be stripped soon enough.

Im glad you acknowledge GSP and WME are both making poor decisions based On greed.

Ive watched mma since before gsp ever was anything. I enjoyed him until he bacame a safe fighter along with 90% of mma fans at that time. I respect his abilities and i thought that bisbing fight was one of his most exciting fights ever.

But he NEVER intended on defending that belt. He did it to stroke his ego or for the challenge or whatever.

But most likely he wanted to keep getting that million+ a year from sponsors by doing a fight thats IMO his main incentive. Plus bisbing was easy prey for anyone top 10 mw or probably even ww and WME has their heads up their asses so they will let that BS ride knowing he will tuck and run
*Bisping, you knob ;)
I think you had some animosity way before he quit, obviously.
We can't all love the same flavour of ice cream, but I think you're entirely wrong with his intention financially. He was earning fucking millions a year and he's hardly been Connoring it about.

WME decides, and the fighters will take that oppertunity, every single one of them. All of them.

As for GSP, he is goat with or without this belt. He can afford to abandon it. What's the problem with that? Many fighters had to or did let go of a belt to do other stuff, Jon Jones for example, he went off took part in a demolition derby he thought was going on in traffic. I just don't see why this is all so upsetting. But I respect your opinion.

you're doing my tweed in now. "greed'? Explan.
Greed as in the pay for the fight, 2 weight champ status and mostly the sponsors that were throwing him millions. Renewing the sponsors is easy if you take the easiest top 10 fight in any weightclass plus a belt.

Him beating bisPing isnt that big of a deal since he wasnt the only blown up WW to beat bisPing that month. But dont intentionally take the belt for hostage for personal gain. I dont like any champ that fucks off in any manner not defending. conor and bones included. I didnt like cain and aldos injurys but i wasnt really vocal and i dont like woodleys "thats racist/money fight/ill vacate for a superfight" BS. I want champ vs #1 contender

Im more into the fight itself and styles vs styles and the fighters warrior spirit. I dont see alot of warrior spirit in GSP. When the shit gets tough hes bails. Taps to serra and retires after hendricks beats his ass and now might duck contenders

I wrote a thread many months ago called 'GSP's cowardly comeback' and everyone got their panties twisted about it. GSP is a man who fights monsters in a cage, he is not a coward. But relative to other MMA fighters this has been an act of cowardice. He is afraid of genuine 185 pound contenders.

GSP opportunistically fucked over an entire division because he recognized the champ was a lame duck. And he was never going to fight the real contenders he fucked over. He made his money and gets a distorted achievement to add to his legacy, but this little foray has been the act of a weasel, not the act of the 'honorable martial artist' cleanskin he portrays.
My exact thoughts.

It really is a distorted achievement in beating Bisping. Bisping is a legend, but his career is coming to an end. A well deserved win over Rockhold (which I believe Bisping wins 1/10 times), and we all know he got the fight due to a pull out. He got gifted a queue jump, made the most of it, became champ, defended against the non-contenders.

GSP will fight Conor sometime in 2018 then retire.

I don't think there has ever been a fight that made so little sense for someone than Whitaker for GSP. A bigger, younger guy in his prime who already showed good defensive wrestling against a better (pure) wrestler than GSP. and no one even knows who Whitaker is. it's as big a no-no as there has ever been.
They really do need to start promoting the fuck out of Whitaker. Such a nice, humble dude that will fucking kill you. Fighting wise, he's as exciting as it gets.

Warmed my hands up now, lovey.

Don't ever say GSP was after a pay deal, he's, simply not that sort of person. I don't know how to explain how horrid it was seeing him fight Mike but I couldn't actually bring myself to watch the finality, someone had to pull my head out of my hands in the middle of a bar full of which mostly people I'd decided to drag out to watch. He beat Mike the fuck up, and I dealt with it.

Fuck me, you annoy me with fighter spirit with GSP. FFS. I started really in on this I'm sure later than you but 10 years and some months.

So if you were GSP you would have turned down the opportunity? Declined the millions of $ to be made?

Im sure GSP will turn down an opportunity to make millions when he has to defend.

GSP is a multi-millionaire, he doesn't have to work on Dana's slave farm for money anymore. And if he doesn't want to fight at 185 he doesn't have to.

One thing that I am noticing is that fighters seem to have more power in this stage of the new UFC. GSP screwed over Dana even though Dana had this written into GSP's contract that he would defend at least 1 time. GSP is not doing it. Yet silence from Dana.

Luke Rockhold crapped all over the UFC and called them out for their title defense nonsense. He said the sport is losing it's integrity. Again silence from Dana. Instead the UFC gives him a title shot against Robert Whittaker in Australia.

Conor went to Ireland and jumped in the cage and shoved a ref. Then he tried to jump back into the cage and slapped an executive. Again silence from Dana.

I think I am gathering 2 things from all of this. IMG has basically seemed to muzzle Dana and put him on a leash some. In the past he would have been doing interviews and shitting all over these fighters. Now is silent. Fighters seem to have much more power now in the IMG UFC era. Whether good or not we will see. I think it's all about making money now and not offending the fighters.

Some ignorant people on this thread so let me educate you. GSP struggled with his fight camp for Bisping because he was sick. He didn’t know he would get sicker as it went on when he signed for the fight. He has now been diagnosed with a chronic illness, one which could end his career depending on how bad it is and how it is treated. It is debilitating and how he managed to fight Bisping while suffering with it I will never know.

Those of you saying he’s ducking anyone are full of shit. He has a big battle ahead of him now to maintain his health, it’s hard to keep weight on with colitis so staying at an unnatural weight is going to be that much harder. He will drop weight and I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped to lightweight or welter at the max. That is if he is able to fight again.

This guy was nothing but humble and a good ambassador for our sport, one kids can look up to and who martial artists aspire to be like. He didn’t get coked out of his head or beat women up or hit and run and he’s never been done for steroids. Say what you will but I’d rather one GSP than 10 Conor’s.

Give the guy a break have some fucking compassion and respect for a guy who deserves it.

But the kids got Jon Jones for that.

Remember, he is a role model, he used to snitch on kids in school for pot.
