Finally got the wife to dive with me. Her furst official dive was the great barrier reef. Looking for our next place to dive. What is the best spot you have ever dove (anywhere in the world). Or where is the best spot you heard of. Thinking Bali but seems to touristy.
I am boring.
I just keep going to Cozumel over and over. I can get to Mexico cheaper than I can get to a lot of domestic US locations.
It's world class and easy.
Indonesia and Egypt consistently ranked as maybe having the largest quantities of world-class dive sites.
But I would say that's not necessary. You mentioned Bali. Indonesia is going to be great. Lots of good sites. The thing about rankings is they look at more sites than the average person can do in a single vacation. So what's the point?
To me I would just throw a dart at the cheapest geography and then find the top level diving in that region.
Southeast Asia? You're looking at Indonesia, A couple sites in Malaysia, Koh tao in Thailand, etc.
If you really want a great diving trip you need to get a live-aboard. You can get 6 tanks a day and see things you will never see doing boat dives from a Resort destination.
As your wife gets better you could do more and more Shore diving together. And in that case there may be no better place than Bonaire.
And these are all the usual pretty Reef warm water diving.
I dive lakes in Texas to keep my skills. There are Springs here and a North Florida there are tons of Springs. Some are naturally cold but cold water makes super clear visibility. So now I want to start diving the Northeast and work on dry suit diving.
It all just depends on what you want.
Doing the Great Barrier Reef of front is really going to spoil her LOL
