Except Fedor came back and sucked ass.
Well, he is 40, and fighting the literal top competition, not the paper champ.
Who btw is much bigger, as has usually been the case throughout his career.
Unlike unified guys in the UFC.

No, dude, Conor never retired in between beating Aldo (winning the 145 belt) and beating Alvarez (winning the 155 belt). GSP retired, which is why he doesn't currently hold the 170 belt upon now returning.

Y'all talk some shit, but you forget Conor beat Aldo, Nate and Eddie in the span of a year, fighting 4x in 3 weight classes and taking 2 titles.
Well since he has fought again did he really retire or just take a break. Retired means you dont work anymore. Using your logic we could also say conor retired from fighting 145.

I don't think he's even in the GOAT discussion, but that's a different matter.
GSP has more claim to being a 2-division champ than Conor ever will.
GSP did exactly what Conor did in skipping over everyone for a favorable matchup that happened to have a belt attached.
GSP is GOAT of his division, Conor is GOAT at mooney and the moovement of mooney, nothing else, ever.
GSP never ducked a fight. GSP never had the red carpet laid out for him. He beat the crap out of everyone with wrestling credentials who were suppose to kick his ass. The only wrestler the irish guy fought was on 10 days notice, the irish guy got dominated, and saved by the eggs lapdog ref at the 1st possible opportunity. Pathetic.

Fedor fought in an era where you could take all the PED's you wanted and you didn't have to fight the toughest guy every time out, a luxury UFC champs are rarely afforded. People complain about "super fights" in UFC that had Bisping fighting Hendo and GSP, but after Fedor won the Pride HW title he fought Egidijus Valavicius (4-2), Fujita (9-3), Gary Goodridge (17-14), Yugi Nagata (0-1), Mark Coleman (40 at the time), Randleman, and Ogawa. Rematched Nog, beat Crocop, then fought Zulu, Mark Coleman (now 42), Mark Hunt (early shitty Hunt), Lindland (middleweight), and Hong Man Choi (pituitary freak, kickboxer).

So at this point I can only laugh when people suggest he's the GOAT.

That's cool
I laugh at people who think the ufc wasn't a ped free for all. You know right up until the time GSP retired and real drug testing started.

Dave Beneteau disagrees
I'm just joking..i just remember the stories Colman would talk about how Tim could sub anybody with a neck crank and they said he was the next big thing..ol Bobby Hoffman hurt him

I figured lol
I just remember going to KOTC 9 and being pumped to see UFC vet Beneteau. Then proceeded to watch what looked like a 60 year old man beat his ass and sub him in 25 seconds lol

I also was at the Hoffman beat down

I've met Bobby Hoffman. He is not a small human.
No he’s not
So I have a table that butts up to the cage at a cobra nhb show in 2002. It’s me and 9 friends there rooting for my friend and instructor Mark Hall. He is fighting one off Hoffman’s guys. Obviously during the fight we were rowdy and rooting for Mark. Bobby didn’t take too well to that. The fight ended with Mark getting injured and Hoffman charged across the cage feet from me and basically threatened to kill us all. He was definitely a scary dude.

Luckily a couple weeks later at UFC 34 I got to again be rowdy and watch him get his ass kicked by Barnett. Even saw Josh right after the fight and congratulated and thanked him for smashing him

Lol Most drunk I’ve ever been at a fight

I'm not saying it wasn't, but if Jon Jones had the same luxury Fedor had he'd probably be LHW and HW champ at this point, instead of having his legacy forever tarnished.

Sure
I guess I’m saying that GSP did have that luxury.

I remember reading that Pat Militech was so worried about Bobby Hoffman and his threats back in the day that he started bringing a gun to the gym in case he showed up. What a nutcase he was.

Won MW title fairly squarely after 4 years off and looked even bigger.

Even though UFC testing was pretty shitty, it was still better than no testing at all that Pride had, where they were encouraged to use. People were still getting busted in the UFC before USADA.

Ron Francis, the dude who played with Lemieux and Jagr. I can't even skate and I'm reasonably sure those two could have got me some points just by bouncing the puck off my stumbling ass.

To be fair, everyone was using, and he beat them all. So whether he was clean or dirty, he was the baddest motherfucker on the planet for a 10 year stretch.
