What I've noticed stalking them for a few years is brand new styles around black Friday ~ after Christmas will go on sale for 30%~40% off. Stores will carry inventory over the next year so a style that is sold from last year will drop to 50% ~60% which is super amazing.

So Canada Goose despite the name only uses goose down which has higher insulating properties than duck on their premium jackets that are over $1000+. The 700 ~ 999 range that most people buy is actually duck down jackets.

As much as North Face is a cliche, It's a cliche with every people. North Face jackets have so many varied styles that It's not like you look at someone and know they are wearing North Face until you see the brand symbol which is small And discreet.
Canada Goose in Canada has a reputation for being an overpriced jacket for foreigners (Chinese). You can tell from very far away they are wearing CG because the big white patch and generally the parka jackets that everyone buys do look the same. Chinese people have a way of copying each other like if one is wearing CG they all go out and buy it so it just look weird to see like 20 Chinese people all with the same jacket sitting at a bus stop. I dont want to blend in and look like I'm with them.

I've been buying Kuhl and Mammut and they seem like quality items with a more versatile line.
My wife has Patagonia and it's a higher quality than the North face I bought about 5 years ago.
No recent north face purchases but they have some really nice goretex jackets I might buy.

Word on Carhartt. I have one that is amazing for hunting and running around the woods. The heavy material just let's branches rake by with no tears or snags. Mine is about 8 years old now and is as good as new. Just wipe it down if it gets muddy.
