In my experience, everything is up for grabs in the military. Race, sex, city of origin, the bump on your head, the shity fade you got last time, buck teeth, etc.

You can state that there are some shitty aspects of Chinese culture without resorting to labelling all Chinese people. We don't need to attack North Koreans to criticise the Kim regime. We can call out Trump and aspects of American culture without attacking the American people.

When I call people Chinese, I'm not associating them with the bad aspects of China. I'm saying it because they're Chinese.

It's situational dependent.

I would never address someone as Chinese unless I knew them and knew them to be Chinese or else why does their being Chinese matter? It's kind of rude to talk about a person's alleged ethnic group if you don't even know them.

When a stranger just yells something about China when you walk by It's used in a negative way. It's like calling someone a Jew or some other inappropriate term.
