The webcam streaming site Camsoda will be putting on a mixed martial arts (MMA) event in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on April 26th. Headlined by former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez against former UFC middleweight Alex Nicholson, “Camsoda Legends” is the most Florida event to happen since bath salts became a thing. It even features Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett. And yes... the ring girls will be available after the fights as a “special bonus”- as cam girls, in other words.

What makes this even weirder? The fans watching via livestream will be able to pay money to tip the fighters... and to get the fighters to do the moves they want. This is the part I still have questions about. As Ben Fowlkes explains, the press release makes it seem straightforward... but it’s not exactly clear how it will work in reality.

“For the first-time ever, fans will be able to directly interact with fighters in real-time,” it states. “As the fights occur, fans watching the livestream will be able to determine bonus money and provide extra incentive for specific finishing moves.”

The release goes on to say that “specific requests” will be relayed to the fighters during their fights.

“The more a user tips, the more direction over the fights they are afforded,” it adds.

Will the fighters get that money if they go for, say, an armbar, but don’t get it? How are these wishes communicated to the fighters? Won’t the opponent be able to hear that and be able to counter it? Isn’t it somewhat degrading to take MMA fighters, notoriously hard up for cash, and put them onto a porn stream where they have to perform tricks for cash?

Yes, I know, you could ask the same about the cam girls.
