Khabib/Iaquinta.

Not that the victory itself was a fluke, but the fact that a guy was allowed to win a championship off of the 11th ranked guy is possibly the biggest fluke in MMA.

At least Serra had to actually beat GSP.

Because some of you are lexically impaired, I'll start with a definition of the word fluke:

fluke [fluk]

noun

  1. an accidental advantage; stroke of good luck: He got the job bya fluke.
  2. an accident or chance happening.
And now for the flukiest wins ever:
  • Nate-Conor 1
  • Mir-Lesnar 1
  • Serra-GSP 1
  • JDS-Cain 1

What else?
Maybe Serra GSP mayyyybe. You're high if you think the others were flukes. Only ones I can think of is Matt Hughes over Newton, Krazy Horse Bennett over Wanderlei or Belfort over Couture.

All 4 of them had rematches which were won in dominant fashion by the losing fighter of the first fight

**I KNOW THIS IS A TROLL THREAD**

But...

As much as it pains me to say Serra didn't fluke out he didn't. He trained the overhand right, threw the overhand right and landed it. SbsoliAbso nothing fluke related. Same with the vast majority of "flukes" in MMA. I'm undecided on Anderson's leg break though. I'm not sure of Chris knew how bad that could be for him.

Nate's accidental advantage/stroke of good luck (i.e. fluke) in the first Conor fight was Conor's ego getting the best of him.

When Conor properly prepared for a fight with Nate at the same weight, he clearly won.

Yeah a drunken, fat, out of shape Nate who just got back from Cabo and whopped Conors who had a full camps ass. Yeah Fluke lol. In the second fight the only person who looked even close to being finished was Conor against the cage until the bell rang and he got lucky.

I agree 100%, it's no disrespect to Khabib, all he could do was fight who they put in front of him, nothing more nothing less.

But the chain of events that had to happen for a guy to beat an 11th ranked guy for a world title... that's the fluke of all flukes! Will probably never happen again.
