I think it’s an interesting idea.
It would obviously lead to more exciting final rounds as guys down on the cards would chase finishes. It would also save fighters from getting blindsided by decisions. They find out after the 1st round if their game plan/style is being viewed favourably by the judges and can make adjustments if needed.
I think a lot of dull fights (Wonderboy I’m looking at you) are caused by guys thinking they are winning fights when they are not and coasting. Imagine that Bisping/Silva fight if Silva knew he was losing that decision. I’m also thinking of the Masvidal/Iaquinta fight where Masvidal was clearly the more skilled fighter but he lost a decision because he thought he was winning the fight and took his foot off the gas.
MMA is a subjective sport. You are never going to have uniform judging. The best way to protect fighters from bad/unexpected judging is to let them make adjustments during the fight according to how the particular judges are scoring.
I think it would also lead to more disciplined judging.
