Hopefully we get more info that is positive, but drastically cutting down the exposure won't help the promotion grow.

But if they are getting $10-20m a year it might put them in the black.
Seems like they were forced to make the deal.

After seeing companies bid for UFC, I am very shocked they couldn't pull of a deal better than this on traditional cable with Fox/Turner/SHO/etc.
Only time will tell, but I can definitely think this is a big plus for Bellator. I think it was you who stated that Bellator made about 20m in revenue last year(we know numbers aren’t official). Here we have bellator signing a deal that will guarantee them 20m a year while only giving up 7 of their 22 events to DAZN. All others will be on DAZN and Paramount.

earning their speculated previous year revenue while giving only 7 events doesn’t sound like a bad gig. It helps them get out of the red and buys them time. Adds serious sustainability.

what i'm basically trying to get at is that it appears that the amount they are receiving from the deal seems to far outweigh the amount of exposure they will lose because of the DAZN exclusive events.
At least that’s how I’m reading.

As I said in other post (& forums) this was a good deal for them to make.
They needed the guaranteed money
But with that, exposure will be less
But they made a deal that helps them.

Now they need to try to get better TV access & that might only occur with a sale (away from Viacom)
They are no longer a great fit together

Additional Info:

It is a 3 year deal with a 2 year option.
Meltzer said the deal is for $33m per (average)
if that is true than its an incredible financial deal for Bellator

Dave is usually spot on with Bellator stuff because he is from San Jose & know Coker personally
He was also friends with the old SF owners

incredible indeed. nearly doubling their revenue in a single swoop. all other revenue just adds to that. Idk how deep in the red bellator was, but this helps a great deal.

the two year option will be extremely telling as well. didnt you report that they have the option to buy in as well?

That was not me that reported that
But a DAZN exec was asked if they had equity & he said something like "no comment", so people ran with it.
A no comment usually means a yes in this context

They are media trained (I think) why dont they know this?
Everybody and their grandmas know this.
He should have gone with "FUCK YOU!" and it would have left all the journalist /bloggers and others confused.
THATS how you do it.
Thats how I would have done it.
