Bonds really fucked up, he let jealousy get in the way of his natural talent. Without the controversy he probably would have made a arguement as one of the 10 best ever, now he isnt even going to get into the HOF, which I think is BS honestly.
I still consider him a top 10 best ever.

He was already headed to the hall of fame before he magically packed on 40lbs in an offseason and started knocking the covers off the balls.

Such a talented guy with great speed for a power guy.

He did have some injury issues early on so i wonder if that's what initially got the juice flowing and he became addicted to the results?
only pro athlete I've seen whose head might've increased hat sizes as they got older more than Bonds was Manny Pacquiao.

Roided up Bonds was probably the greatest player that ever lived, it was a lot of fun watching him

Do you think the 3 of them with Clemens should be in the Hall? Personally I think what they did for the sport should get them in. The summer of 98 was special. Sosa and Mac were the right 2 guys at the time. It was fun watching them have fun. Bonds didnt look like he enjoyed it.

I'd put them all in. MLB knew it was going on and let them get away with it. Add an asterisk stating they used PEDs so there is some form of separation from the rest of the members. They are all listed among the all time leaders so it isn't like their stats have been erased. Leaving them out of the HOF feels petty.

Who was the bigger stars those 3 or Jim Thome? Thome was good and hit alot of homers but he wasnt spectacular.

ok, I might've been wrong about this, bases loaded & no outs in the bottom of the 2nd & the pitcher missing the target by feet. let's just pretend that post never happened
It was the Royals. You dont get to 40 games under 500 by the all star break by being anything other than a double A team

made it out of the inning without allowing a run, just needed a weird hit that went less than two feet for a double play to do it, but I'm still in business!

I guess you dont have to worry about your finish position when you throw that hard. Dude had his back to the batter. Haha.

From what I hear, that kid is every bit as talented as was expected.
he was just farting in his general direction

betting on the Royals is not for the faint of heart. Houdini Keller somehow made it to the 5th before giving up a run with a lot of luck along the way, the Royals put up 6, & things aren't looking good with the Yanks rallying

Thome hit a ton of homers. He's a 600+ guy.
.276 / .402 / .554

Never a lot of notoriety around him. Just quiet respect. Dude was consistent as hell. And this might be my NL bias talking, but I think people take him down a notch or two from the "all time greats" because he played so much of his career as a DH.

I dont like the DH personally but and I hope the NL never goes to it.

You bet on the Royals vs Severino? Madness. And I see KC won 10-5. Haha. Nice!

Not a fan either. Not that I like having the pitcher come to the plate, but I do like the strategy it creates late in games. There is so much more a manager has to consider. A box score for the AL is usually boring as fuck. A tight ball game in the NL leaves a box looking like a failed NY Times crossword puzzle.

The DH generates more offense though. There's no denying that. I'm sure the NL will adopt it eventually.

Sevie hasn't looked good, & Keller's pitch mix are the pitches that give the Yanks the most problems. Problem was Keller was missing his spots by feet, & he had 3 walks, a hit batter & a wild pitch in the first 3 innings & somehow didn't give up a run. Then Stanton missed a grand slam by a couple of feet an inning or two later. Yanks could've put up 15 in the Royals didn't get lucky, repeatedly. But sometimes in gambling it's better to be lucky than good

I will say there's nothing worse than having money on a team & seeing them cut over to the Royals dugout & seeing Ned Yost standing there looking stupid. I'd like to see Yost vs. Jim Riggleman on a game of Jeopardy! or George Will's Sports Machine George F. Will's Sports Machine

As a team, the Mets are batting .229

The Yankees have hit 80 more HRs (166) than Miami (86).

Non-waiver trade deadline day!

A lot of the normal buzz is missing from this season's first deadline because two of the bigger names - Manny Machado (BAL to LAD) and Cole Hamels (TEX to CHI) have already found new teams.

Still, some movements out there yesterday...

  • Red Sox acquired Ian Kinsler from the Angels
  • Braves got Adam Duvall from the Reds
  • Yanks grabbed Lance Lynn from the Twins
  • Pirates got their closer in Keone Kela from the Rangers
I'm sure there will be quite a few more. After today, trades can still happen but it's a bit more involved.
