I was also thinking the ghost of Napoleon vs Mighty Mouse could be a headliner too.

I don't think GSP could take that kind of punishment at this stage of his career. Not suggesting that GSP wouldn't have a chance against JG but I can definitely see GSP absorbing some heavy heavy shots in the process.

Hard to believe a Ppv and MSG event without a title fight. With the fights so far announced TJ vs Moraes would work fine. Putting an entire PPV on Diaz with the NY commission seems like a dangerous gamble.

As recent as two days ago on a national program he stated otherwise:
“He told hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest he plans on defending his light heavyweight title before defending the heavyweight belt, an assertion he made after he became a dual champion. And he said for him, having two belts is all about legacy before the end of his career.”

If UFC is really holding this spot for Jones that has to say something positive about his chances of being set free. They know more about his situation than anyone, by far. Not suggesting it's a definitive indication - they have a backup plan, no doubt - but to get this close to such a big event and still no announcement speaks volumes.
 
i think their primary hope is Jones,

back up plan is the back up plan for Khabib / Conor, insurance in case something goes wrong on Oct6 they can move it as main for msg

back up back up plan is Diaz / Poierer

Tickets if Dustin vs Diaz top out at $500 imo. If Conor/Khabib gets moved there, tickets will already be sold and everyone that spent $500-$10,000 for the Vegas fight will ask for a refund. No way they do Khabib/Conor in ny under the cheap ticket prices. The gate would be ridiculously low and the ufc loves to talk about how much fans spend to go to the big fights.

DC vs Jones... book it as a LHW if any miss weight (which probably both will) then make it a HW fight. Both has been in the talk about fighting Brock anyway so it works out.

If DC accepts that fight you do it for the HW title with the winner fighting brock in feb or so. Hard for me to believe DC is dropping 40lbs in 2 months.
 
At the moment I would say....

TJ v Cejudo @ 135 (or 125) - (Or TJ/Cejudo just defend against someone)

Romero v Someone @ 205lb for an interim belt (not sure who, only real possibility is Anthony Smith could step in dropping his fight against Volkan. everyone else is booked for dates well away from 230)

Valentina v Someone (Possibly a rematch against Carmouche) for the 125 belt

They make Nate v Porier for the inaugural 165lb belt

Woodley quick turn around v Covington for the undisputed 170lb belt..


Or combine the above, Nate v Porier for the inaugural 165 belt, Woodley and Covington fight at 175....


(then if the stars align and Nate beats Dustin, McGregor beats Khabib (or even if he doesnt), then its McGregor v Nate III at 165 with McGregor bidding to be the first every 3 division champion)
