The problem is, outside a few nice kicks, thats all she's got. (She should be fighting kickboxing, imho.) She's got great head movement, cuts an angle nicely, sets up nice combos to kicks, actually throws to the body...but agreed again, she's no power puncher.
And I see her looking really silly, really fast, against a judo throw or a level change to a leg(s).

You should know rankings mean nothing. Dana puts on the fights he wants to independent of anything else. She's 9-0 isn't she? Hardly the newbie everyone is making her out to be. I think this will be an interesting fight. She will be ready for ronda's rush with some kicks. I dunno...I would have been happy with tate cause she seems like she improved so much. Either way I will watch.

Fair and agreeable but this particular issue is how these fighters work the "Promotion" system of their spot. When their boss can't even consider the word CONFIRM to be a serious commitment to something it is basically a line where you might as well just admit you have absolutely no integrity even in treating or using your own list of marketable fighters. Miesha is among the list that can actually pull and make a dent with or without Ronda and you basically just spat in her face because you have ZERO ability to act like a professional executive in any form. It's disgraceful, the entirety of the business world on earth knows what "Confirm" means or cares what it means except that idiot.
Oh yeah, make no mistake. It's a complete joke. IMO, next title shot should go to the #1 contender unless he just fought for the title or has another fight already booked; and in the instance #1 isn't available it should go 2, 3, 4, etc. I still can't believe we're expected to take the promotion seriously after the way Conor got his title shot.
I agree, even then, he was careful the whole time to not use "Confirmed" to anyone until Conor was "ready" and never backtracked. This is a whole new level of bullshit, he can't even leave a "We'll see" comment any more or just doesn't care, he figures he can say just about anything fuck with any fighters livelihood promises and the fighters will take it bent over.
Unfortunately he pretty much can, and they do. I'd love to see a big name who's about to retire just no show a fight and say "It's okay for them to not keep their word, so why should I?"

I agree. However, on the business end of things it seemed Rousey Tate 3 wasn't something everyone wanted to see. We wanted to see it but in marketing to the generic, newer MMA fans, undefeated former boxing great vs Rousey will put butts in seats.
I can't speak for everyone, but I'm an older MMA fan and still didn't want to see it.
Dana's in it to make money. NO ONE wants to pay for another Tate fight. He pitched it, & she probably deserves it, but it got no buzz at all. So bring in the great white hype. There's always one out there. Maybe 2 people on the planet thinks Holly has a chance, but by fight night people will be frothing at the mouth to see her head kick Ronda. It's a money move. I'm surprised her camp took the fight, but it probably comes with a shit ton of money. This gives her 4 months of prep time. Maybe it's enough.....Nah.
Oh yeah, I know rankings mean very little when it comes to title shots. I mean, it SHOULD hold more weight if this is to be strictly sport, but as we know, this is also entertainment. Certain...selective title shots (Ala Chael sonnen)... have proved that Dana is willing to forgo the "sport" element for the money-making "entertainment" side. And I don't blame him usually for these moves.
She's decisioned her only two UFC fights. And that gets her a title shot. This isn't a reflection on Holm, Ronda, matchmaking or Dana. Its just the result of a weak division. Nobodys fault for that.
There have certainly been some selective title shots, but Sonnen won 2 title eliminators for his shots at Silva. The Jones fight was a unique circumstance to say the least.
Yeah I meant the Jones/Sonnen fight. I think the Diaz/Silva fight was similar with Diaz getting a shot coming off a loss. And then there's all the dang immediate rematches we have to put up with... I lament the immediate rematch
I didn't mind the Jones/ Sonnen fight because Sonnen had agreed to the fight on a handful of days notice, and the fans demanded it after that. Diaz has gotten some really selective match making. Gets a title shot after beating BJ, loses. Comes back and gets another, loses. Comes back and gets Silva. Conor is probably the worst. Regardless of how you feel about his talent, beating Denis Siver shouldn't ever get you a title shot. There also wasn't any good reason for that to be an interim title fight, but they wanted to hand out a belt come hell or high water, lol.
