Got error message on my washing machine last night about 20 minutes into a load with it full of water. I couldn't get it to do anything but drain after some trouble shooting (just resetting and unplugging the power for several minutes). I did an Internet search for the failure code, found a video on the topic, and then tonight took that motherfucker apart from the bottom, and to my suprise it's actually working now. Hope I don't have to do that again since it was a total pain in the ass, but feels good to have resolved the issue without an appliance service. Thank you random guy on youtube!

On his behalf you’re welcome. I’ve replaced just about everything in my front loader. The dryer hasn’t given me any issues. I’m talking inner and outer drum, belt bearings, pump, shocks, front touch panel, door lock, pullout soap trays and the bellows. Other than that it hasn’t given my a lick of trouble.

Next time I do this I'm disconnecting the machine completely and just flipping it upside-down. Leaning it over and attempting to work under it was a bitch. I just mimicked what I saw on the video, a d believe it or not, it wasn't quite as easy in real life. Irrelevant, got er done.

The biggest PITA was the drums and bearings. The entire machine had to be disassembled. They had a 10 year warranty. The bearing went out 10 years and 3 months. I got WP to send the parts gratis after I bitched. The bellows is the next PITA. That’s the big front seal. The entire front needs to be removed. Works perfect now. These are easy to fix compared to the old fashioned agitators our parents had.

I had a really expensive built-in microwave. The door was a pull down. Touch panel went and also the membrane behind it. Those were like $300 each. Problem is they don’t break at once so you keep fixing them one part at a time. So the damn hinge rods broke on the door. I took the screws out while the door was open. Damn glass hit the floor and shattered. Bought new glass and replaced the broken hinge rod. 2 years later second hinge rod broke. Holding the glas this time I left the screws in I thought was holding the glass. Nope broke the glass again. I hated that microwave.

I'm pretty quick to draw the line on getting a new appliance. You seem much more patient.

I'm pretty handy so I just fix them. I enjoy being able to fix them. The microwave was built-in to a panel. I would have liked to replace it but it would have involved a lot of woodwork and refitting.

I'm not handy at all. When I fix anything other than an rc car, I'm actually suprised. Setting radio stations in a car are pretty much a 10/10 difficulty rating for me.

Framed my garage. Started yesterday morning, finished 3pm today. Fortunate I work close enough I could drive the boom across to hoist the walls and roof.
