Semantics. It's higway 50. And there are stop lights every 50 yards in Orlando.

Highways on the east coast generally don't have stop lights. I can think of a few exceptions for entrance ramps on I-95 in Miami Dade County.

No one thinks of a ground level road with stop lights and intersections when referencing "the highway".
Highway 95 in Arizona has lights and stop signs before it turns in desert.

But nobody refers to that as getting on "the highway" when referencing the intracity portion that is often doubled named to a local street.

It is a state highway. It is not considered "the highway" due to its many stop lights and pedestrian sidewalks.
